Dr. Sullivan is by far THE BEST in his field, along with being a great, very personable man!!! These people that complain about how long they had to wait in the office are morons, I'm sorry to say. This isn't like going in for a quick oil change! When it comes to your eyes, the last thing you want is the Dr rushing to stay on schedule, he's not psychic so he cannot know the severity of each patient's issue and how long it will take prior their visit! The man puts in longer work hours than anyone I know and still keeps a phenomenal, very personable and pleasant attitude! He's the best there is and well worth the wait, however long your wait may be! And his entire staff is exceptional, very professional, personable, and polite! I went in to repair a considerable tear and hole in my left retina...I can never thank him enough, and if I ever moved out of the area and had more issues, no matter how far, I'd travel back for him to take care of me! God Bless you Dr.!!!
Do not go here. They expect you to wait a minimum of 2 1/2 -3 hours to see the doctor even with a scheduled appointment. Never in the last 10 years between south florida to Wisconsin and Illinois have I ever had to be at a retina specialist for that long. Even when needing to be dilated for an eye shot have I ever waited that long. The check in staff are also rude and do not seem to want to be there or are open to looking for other appointment times when booking the next appointment. They simply say that’s when he wants to see you and what is open. Why have scheduled appointments when no matter what you wait 3 hrs. Terrible service compared other medical staff I have experienced in north Florida. There is also only one doctor in the office trying to service regular appointments and emergency visits. There is obviously a scheduling problem within the office.
My mom has been going to Dr Sullivan for around 2+ years now, Wet Macular in the right, and then the left. Shes had surgery with him to remove scar tissue. He saved her vision, saw her the first day she thought there was a seriously problem. He got her in, he takes care of people. There’s gonna be posts that talk about the wait. So what. He has a ton of patients. He doesn’t say no to people who are losing vision, he fits them in. St Augustine (where we go) has a large senior citizen population, so there’s a wait. They are efficient. Bring a book. I go with my mom every appointment and we catch up or read or whatever. The care you get far exceeds your wait, I promise you. He will answer every question you have and make sure you’re heard. Every member of the staff is incredible. I don’t do reviews about anything, I do it now because we had an appointment today and thought about it. You can’t do better than this guy, he’s so good at what he does.
Macular degeneration of the left eye brought us to Dr. Sullivan, ophthalmologist. The doctor is professional, kind and caring, but it is the practice in itself that has problems. The first visit we were there for four hours with each consecutive visit 3 hours. You feel like you are cattle being herded from one room to another, each time with an approximate wait of 30 mins. The office lobby usually has 15 to 20 patients waiting to go to then next station. The staff told us Dr. Sullivan can see 116 patients per day! This particular office is only open on Fridays as there are 3 other office sites. Once we see the doctor, it takes about 10 minutes to numb the eye, wait, then receive an injection. The results are very good but be prepared to spend half your day here. P.S. coffee, tea and cocoa are available
Dr. Sullivan is both knowledgeable and professional but scheduling is very poor and not very accommodating. 2-3 hour wait times are the norm, not the exception. When trying to get an earlier time on same day due to having eyes dilated from an appointment with another eye doctor on same day, the office staff would not even consider and could not even guarantee I would see dr within 2 hour window of my original time. Very disappointing.
