This was my first visit with Dr. Jason Oum, and unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. I already struggle with anxiety, and medical appointments can be very stressful for me. During the visit, although he asked standard medical questions, his communication style came across as overly assertive and lacking warmth or empathy ,I also did not appreciate his body language while discussing my health. At one point, he stood with his hands on his hips while speaking to me, which made me feel like I was being scolded rather than cared for as a patient. As a 49-year-old woman, I expect to be spoken to respectfully and conversationally — talked with, not talked at. I understand that doctors have demanding jobs, but bedside manner is important, especially for patients who already experience anxiety around healthcare visits. I left the appointment feeling uncomfortable and unheard
Dr. Oum is great. I’ve been going to him for over two years. He caught multiple issues that other doctors had missed and really engages with my concerns about my health.
I went in for numerous health concerns - none of which he addressed. Instead, for months every appointment was focused on my blood pressure and reminding me that my weight was an issue. At my last appointment, when I began to speak as he entered the room, he literally hushed me so he could talk. I felt unseen and unheard. I felt as if he talked down to me, as if he knew best because he was a doctor. I felt frustrated that none of my other concerns were being addressed for months. So, I spoke to someone in the office and addressed the fact that I did not care for his bedside manner, and was told this is a common occurrence, but that he refuses to change because 'He is doing what is best for his patients.' I've switched doctors now and in one month - they've learned I have Lupus. They've done in one month with blood tests what he didn't bother to do for a year. That's NOT what's best for me. Otherwise, staff was AMAZING.
SCAM. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Very very upset with the service provided. We went in for a new patient service where he listened to NONE of my husbands concerns. He then prescribed medication and listed the wrong phone number so it took us forever to figure out how to get it from Walgreens as the office did not answer a single call from us. Now, we get a bill that this in network new patient visit is going to cost us $400 for the 15 minutes my husband spent there. This place is a scam.
The front desk staff were very nice and professional. Very clean setting and not crowded. Dr. Oum's assistant Kelsey greeted me very kindly, and continued to be pleasant, patient, and compassionate. I was able to ask and answer questions with ease. After a few minutes with Kelsey, I got to meet Dr. Oum, and I must say that after a quick Q&A, and a quick exam, I have found my new doctor's office. Great first experience.........
