I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to because therapy here has genuinely made a big difference in my life. James has a way of making you feel comfortable without making the conversation feel superficial. I never felt judged or like I was being rushed. He helped me see patterns I never would have recognized on my own. What I appreciate most is that he doesn't just let me vent every week. He gives practical tools, challenges my thinking when I need it, and helps me work through things in a way that has lead to real change. There have been plenty of times I left a session still thinking about something we talked through, and that's where a lot of the growth happened. If you're considering therapy but feel nervous or skeptical, I absolutely recommend Jacksonville Therapy.
I’m so grateful for James and the care he’s shown me throughout my journey. He has created a space where I always feel safe, heard, and genuinely supported. His kindness, compassion, and guidance has helped me through some incredibly difficult moments and has made a lasting difference in my life. I truly can’t thank him enough and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who truly cares.
Back in 2024, I relocated to Alabama for the next steps of my medical career. Now here in 2026, there are three Quality of Life amenities that I regret every week no longer having, ever since moving from the Southeast Georgia/Jacksonville area. 1. The Jacksonville airport, and the days of flying to New York for less than $200 round-trip. Regional airports are monstrously expensive. 2. Being able to road bike without significant risk of permanent injury. Now I'm forced to now stave away the pounds on gym member treadmills like a hamster on a wheel—gasping sweaty air instead of inhaling the open road breeze. 3. James Roark. And if I could have chosen one of the three to take with me, I would have taken James. To say James "helped" me would be like calling Prince "a Minnesota singer"—an insulting understatement. James was an ear when I had no one to listen to me with objectivity, patience, and humanity. When I sought to bring accountability to the most impactful people in my life, James was a voice in my corner. And in our last—but hopefully not final appointments, James became the moderator for a family that had lost their communication lines decades ago. James pushed down walls and turned them into dominoes. Living and thriving in the wake of his guidance has been like watching one of those complex, yet fascinating Rube Goldberg machines. Just as those contraptions roll a single marble with the right amount of precision and force to eventually move a bowling ball, James' words have done—and continue to do—the same for my and my family's well-being. Happy New Year from Alabama, James. You are the only amenity and luxury of living in Florida that has been completely irreplaceable.
Absolutely would not recommend. Both James and his assistant, Tracel, broke the HIPAA via payment records. I’m also still waiting on a Superbill that has been requested multiple times.
In my time working with James in a community agency and sharing client care, I’ve always known him to be warm, approachable, and deeply committed to his work. He brings professionalism and heart to every interaction, and I’ve trusted him to provide excellent support to clients when I wasn’t available. I’d absolutely recommend James to anyone seeking a skilled and caring therapist.
