Zero stars. Can we please hire professional people at the front desk? The front desk woman (she has long green nails), I believe her name is Natasha was extremely rude and aggressive towards me. She asked for my insurance card and I showed her it on my phone, to which she rudely yelled at me that she needs a physical card. My insurance company emailed me a digital card this year, no physical card. I wasn't informed when I made my appointment that I needed a physical insurance card. Shortly after this incident, another patient checked in, without an insurance card, just had a photograph on her phone and the front desk lady said sweetly oh baby, that's okay just please bring it next time... So what's the difference between my digital insurance card produced from the insurance company website vs a photo on a cell phone? I know the difference... This office staff is extremely prejudiced against certain customers and exercise their limited "authority" over your valuable time and experience at this doctors office... It's extremely similar to the DMV, if you know what I mean... I'm currently writing this as I'm sitting in the lobby over an hour after my appointment time, as everyone with an appointment before and now after me has already been taken back for their exams. This office used to be run like a tight ship, unfortunately it's completely devolved into an unprofessional and aggressively prejudiced office if you are not "African"american.
I have been a patient of Dr Schnipper for over 25 years. He has saved my eyesight from a type of glaucoma and continues to monitor every year. The office is very polite and professional. I truly hope that Dr Schnipper never retires. Thank you for all your help.
Had the refractive lens replacement. Technis Odyssey 22.0D. I'm 61, male, engineer, and had been using glasses for almost 20 years. They were a problem because I needed them for close-up mostly but would bang into walls if I tried to walk with them. I had looked into corrective surgery in the past but they could not solve for more than one distance. It was a more serious issue when I had to work with safety glasses so I decided to fix it permanently. Did both eyes with a 5 week interval between them. First eye (left) went ok but we had some difficulty fitting the femto laser suction interface to my eyeball. I think my eyes are very deep set which made this task difficult. We couldn't use the laser alignment on my left eye but the results were still good. The main downside was my eye experienced a little pain and bleeding from the the attempt to use the femto laser. The right eye went much smoother with zero pain or bleeding. I had a different tech for the right eye and he was able to make the laser interface adhere to my eye. The first surgery on the left eye used a different anesthesia and I remembered nothing while the second surgery i remembered everything. I suppose I preferred being more alert. The final result was pretty dramatic, 20/20 vision. I can read the smallest writing on the chart and have no problem seeing at any distance. There is a halo effect at night but it doesnt seem to bother me. I perceive that there is a slight difference in the amount of light captured but haven't noticed a depth perception issue. Contrast and color perception seem good. Doctor Schnipper was a good humored guy with a lot of experience that put me at ease. The location was central but parking is a bit tight. The operation is a bit of a standardized process which is fine by me. High throughput probably makes for better consistency. I noted that the man next to me in the prep area did not get the operation done because his heart rate was too slow. My heart rate was the same as his but I could verify that I have had that rate for my entire life. Obviously, the anesthesiologist has some discretion which is good. Overall, the result are extremely good and I would deem the process worth the cost and effort.
The Jacksonville eye center is a great place to get any treatment you need for your eyes they do a great job and are very patient. Dr schnipper is the top ophthalmologist in Jacksonville and he always takes care of me. Everyone in the office is so nice and whatever needs to be done they take care of. So if you need just a regular eye exam or you need cataract surgery or whatever it is they can take care of you there at the Jacksonville eye center.
Very disappointing experience. Before scheduling my appointment, I went to the office in person and showed the receptionist the exact Florida exemption form I needed completed. I explained that I had already undergone eye surgery and a complete eye examination in Colombia, just two months earlier, so I did not need another full eye exam. My only reason for the appointment was to have a Florida-licensed doctor review my records and sign the form. I specifically asked if the doctor would be able to do that, and the receptionist assured me he would. Based on that information, I scheduled the appointment. After paying $285 and going through an examination, the doctor told me he would not sign the form. Had I been told that before the appointment, I never would have scheduled the visit. Better communication and honesty upfront would have saved me unnecessary time, testing, and expense. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience.
