As someone who has collected fine art for many years, I can say that The Atlantic Contemporary is truly a standout gallery — both in its aesthetic vision and the level of care shown by its owners. The space itself is absolutely beautiful — modern, airy, and thoughtfully designed to let each piece speak for itself while maintaining an effortless sense of flow from one room to the next. The owners are gracious, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They take the time to share the story and meaning behind each artist’s work, which adds such depth to the overall experience. There’s an unmistakable energy in this gallery — refined yet inviting — that makes you want to linger and take it all in. I left with a piece that now holds a special place in my home, and I know it won’t be my last. For anyone who values originality, craftsmanship, and the beauty of fine art, The Atlantic Contemporary is a must-visit destination on Amelia Island.
They have some nice art. The staff I’ve met are nice. Unfortunately……the only artists they seem to appreciate and approve of are the over 60 sailboat/sand dune painters, almost all women (I am not against women in any way shape or form). I joined their association and was hopeful to get considered for some wall space. I presented some art to hopefully hang, they said to frame it all for even a look. I did. 490$ in frames later, I presented my art again, as an associate member……my art is niche and extremely unique to this area, it’s new, it’s interesting and different, non offensive and unique …..and was rejected anyway in favor of more of the same old art. They weren’t even interested in my prints. I jumped through every hoop. IMO they are very biased and have no intention, room or interest to give any artist a shot that’s out of their customer demographic. It’s this dismissive attitude of new artists that forced me to close my art business. Bottom line, if you’re a new artist on Amelia Island that offers anything new and exciting go elsewhere for a chance. It’s not here. Sorry, not sorry, I’m taking all my business elsewhere.
Enjoyed. Appreciate the support for local artists and the juried exhibition had some gorgeous works. I loved that certain fine art pieces were affordable for modest collectors. Nice staff, too. Gorgeous mosaic on the exterior walls and a beautiful courtyard, too. Very deserving of more charitable support.
Beautiful hidden gem in downtown Fernandina I highly recommend. Art lovers can't miss this one.
So happy this gallery was open on the day we were there. The atmosphere and collection were terrific! We love seeing local artists' works - so much talent and diverse mediums. The mosiacs on the outside of the building and the courtyard with giant chess pieces were fun to see as well. Highly recommend.
