The room was like something right out of a horror movie. The light switches turned nothing on. The TV didn't work. The toilet was a rocking chair. No towels, soap or shampoo - not even a trash can? The floor was literally coming apart and if not careful, you could trip on the uneven parts. The flooring was three different colors and a real hodge-podge. When they ran out of flooring, that's were it stopped. Didn't see any bugs but you knew they were there. The AC did work (amazingly) and the door did lock. Other that that, NOTHING was even close to acceptable. I renamed this place "The Rock Bottom Inn".
People are nice and will give you anything that you ask for while you’re there. But the rooms are not clean at all. If you want a clean room you have to do it yourself nobody else cleans it or puts clean sheets and covers on the beds. I googled it after we were already there seeing as how we were hit by hurricane Helene and didn’t have any cheap options to stay in closer motels. This was very cheap but for a reason. After I read the Google reviews I immediately bleached our whole room and bathroom, floors, everything you name it. Probably the cleanest room in the motel right now. Room 13. However the tub backs up while you shower. I used a plug to stop the water up when I showered so I’d at least know what water I was standing in. We had to ask for towels and with 4 people staying almost 4 days (paid for a week in advance-no refunds) they only gave us two towels so we bought more and no wash cloths or anything like that. We bought our own everything. Especially bed bug mattress protectors before we even stayed there. I have a very high fear of getting bugs from other places especially motels. I used to be a housekeeper at a state park so I know how clean or not clean some things can be. Luckily they didn’t have any bed bugs or roaches as others have said. I can’t speak for all rooms but ours was bug free. I spoke with someone that was living in a room and they said that they had supposedly all been treated for bugs because of complaints. All in all I made sure we had a clean stay there but if you don’t have time to houseclean or buy some of the things you need I’d suggest staying in one of the other near by places. Idk how much they are but our room for 7 days was $265. It was $97 a night in Folkston which was price gouging during the storm and no discounts for staying longer than one night either…in Folkston. The Western motel I believe it was called. Last year the same motel because of the last hurricane cost us $130 for two nights. So you tell me why so expensive now? But back to our stay at this motel…bug free but dirty rooms…your choice.
If I could give zero stars, I would! Was in town for a wedding, this was our only choice for a place to stay. First room was dirty and AC didn't work so we were switched to another room. Cockroaches crawling on the blinds, on the mattress...bugs everywhere alive and dead!! Linens were stained, furniture was full of stains. We ended up leaving because the thought of sleeping in a cockroach infested room was disgusting. Turned in key, asked for money back and was told we stayed in the room for more than 30 minutes, so we were getting charged. Unless you are a fan of cockroaches crawling on you while you sleep, I would find other accommodations!!
I would rather sleep in a prison cell! This place is absolutely disgusting the owners are fraud pigs! Me and my husband have been living there because we hit a financial bump and we’ve been there for 4 months and they lie about money, they never clean anything, the rooms are disgusting there was literally 2 cigarette butts right next to our bed with someone else’s food trash next to it. The room smells like cigarettes and urine. There is literally poop stains all over the toilet seat, there are spider webs all in the showers, the sink doesn’t work. But the owners all drive fancy cars and wear fancy clothes . They want you to pay in cash (I personally believe because cash isn’t traceable) and they are rude and have no respect of privacy. DO NOT STAY HERE THERE IS A MOTEL ABOUT 10 MINUTES LEFT OF THE PARKING LOT OF THIS RAT HOLE CALLED THE SHIP INN GO THERE!!!
Roach infested, I understand the place is dated, that's fine so we rented for a week when first we had to be given another room because there were no knobs in the shower to turn water on or off when we went to bed the came out, it was so bad they were crawling on my drink can. I was nor a happy camper. When I office the next morning to get my money back, he tried to charge me 100. Dollars for one night, I got very upset said a few thing that maybe I should not have so they keep all my money.please don't stay here
