We had a great time at Heritage Old Time Portrait Studio. The cowboy outfits, props, and old western setup made the whole shoot feel really authentic and fun. The lady attendant was friendly and patiently guided us easily through poses. Photos turned out amazing and truly had that Wild West vibe. Highly recommend for a unique experience in St. Augustine!
My family has made it a tradition to get old-time photos at this establishment, and we’ve always had such a great experience making fun memories together. Unfortunately, our visit today was very different. From the start, it was clear the photographer was overwhelmed. Things began fine, but he quickly became visibly frustrated about putting costumes away, rearranging props, and managing the flow of customers. My family tried to move as quickly as possible since there was already a wait, but his attitude continued to worsen. After our photos were finished, more people started lining up after seeing our pictures and wanting their own taken. He told them he would do the two girls behind us and then had to close to hang up clothes. When other customers politely asked when he might reopen since it was their third time stopping by, he responded with a very dismissive attitude, saying he didn’t know. When they asked if they could leave their name for a call or text when he was ready, he ignored them completely. He turned away multiple other couples in the same rude manner while angrily putting costumes away and printing our photos. The biggest issue happened during checkout. My mom tried to pay, and on her end, the card showed the payment had gone through and the money had been taken from her account. However, he said it did not show on his side. He ran the card again, and my mom explained she did not want to be charged multiple times for a $300 purchase plus a $60 tip. She even showed him the charge pending in her account and asked if she should dispute it so he could rerun the payment properly. Instead of helping resolve the issue calmly, he became visibly upset and said, “It doesn’t matter at this point, don’t worry about it, it’s on an honor system.” My mom made it clear she had no problem paying and simply wanted to avoid duplicate charges. He refused to listen, told her to just take the photos, and she had also paid for the disc. She asked for the owner’s number and explained that if the payment truly had not gone through, the owner could contact her and she would make sure they were paid. As we walked out, he slammed the door behind us and started talking about us to the next customers. Once we left, my mom realized the CD she paid for was missing from the bag, so we went back. He didn’t want to open the door. When my mom explained she had not received the disc she paid for, he told her, “Yeah, I know, because you aren’t getting it until you pay me.” He then called the owner and falsely claimed my mom was refusing to pay, when in reality she had repeatedly offered to resolve the payment issue and even asked him to rerun the card. It was clear he was frustrated because the second photographer had called out and he mentioned only making $100 as a photographer, but that should never be taken out on paying customers. We have always loved coming here, which made this experience even more disappointing. If I were the owner, I would seriously consider hiring additional staff to help during busy times or finding employees who can handle high-volume environments with professionalism. It’s such a shame because this place has always been associated with wonderful family memories for us, and this experience completely changed that.
I had so much fun today taking pictures, the photographers are very chill and patient and willing to do whatever is needed to ensure youre happy with your photos! they turned out so beautiful and the costumes are so fun they have many accessories and props to spice up your photos as well! very satisfied!
We stopped in on a vacation. Zach was professional and patient. He helped us get the best memory we could capture. He is an artist who helps pick out the outfit and directs you thru poses. While being kind in the process! 10/10 recommend but go when Zach is working!
What a wonderful experience to have with family or friends. I greatly appreciated the staff professionalism and quick processing time. The kids enjoyed dressing up, and they had sizes to fit everyone. We opted for the Western theme because we thought the pirate theme would be a bit too risqué for the females in our group. Overall, it was really fun, and I highly recommend that everyone try this at least once in their lives.
