This hotel is one of the few that’s dog friendly and very affordable and very clean. The staff are some wonderful folks who greeted us with a smile and were professional. They go out of their way to help you. It’s a one of a kind place. The gift shop shocked me with their low prices but high quality items. The food is amazing. This is the place to stay if you’re looking for a dog friendly hotel. The only issue we had was the exterior door across from our room (138) kept us up most of the nights and again early morning because it’s so loud with other guests coming and going. Most everyone uses that door so the noise was continuous. Other than that we had a blast and so did Jack!
So far I am not impressed, considering I spent $296 a night. The coffee machines sucked for being Keurig. The housekeeping guy said it works a certain way and we tried but had to get a replacement and that one just barely worked. The room was also smaller than expected. The beds were fantastic. The decor was so-so. The huge picture of the fish was beautiful but not much else except the enormous tv.
We had a pool view room on the first floor. Great location and the hotel staff were awesome. The pool was always clean, the tiki bar and towel service were so convenient, and the direct beach access is fantastic for the whole family. The reasons I give 4 stars are: the room is very small for a family of 3 (we were literally on top of each other in the double queen), the room has zero humidity control so NOTHING dried...like ever, and there are not enough spots to hang up the quickly accumulating wet things (inevitable at a beach hotel). We still enjoyed our trip and I would recommend this hotel to families on a budget.
When we arrived in the room it had not been cleaned. I called the front desk and explained that housekeeping had not cleaned the room. I was told I could switch to the room next door but I would have to go back down stairs to the front desk to change out the door keys. Seriously after driving 7 hours from SC, (btw, I am originally from Fort Lauderdale and lived there for 30 years). I did not want that inconvenience! We just wanted to relax a bit after all I had my dog with me. I said we would go the pool area if they could just send housekeeping to clean the room. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not working, leaving all the steam in thete without being able to see in the mirror. And the restaurant on site was absolutely horrible!!! Upon checkout I did bring up these issues and was offered absolutely nothing in return. I stated the restaurant doesn't do justice to "Guy Harvey". I am writing a separate review for the restaurant.
This is a very fairly priced hotel for the area. The rooms we stayed in were all very clean and modern. And of course they feature the appropriate artwork. The check in staff was very helpful and friendly. There was plenty of parking even on a busy weekend. Beach access is through the pool and probably less than a minute and a half walk from the hotel. The only unusual thing about the hotel is that the hallways look like they haven't been updated, and look relatively low rent. But the rooms we stayed in were all very clean and modern and have very comfortable beds. This is a great place to stay at an affordable price for everybody from families to somebody who might be in the area for business.
