  My experience with the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) assigned to my child’s case has been very concerning. At times, it felt that recommendations were driven mainly by paperwork and written reports, rather than a full and balanced understanding of the child’s actual day-to-day situation and the complete context available from parents and other sources. Communication was limited, and there was not always clear explanation of how conclusions were reached or what information was being prioritized in decision-making. The GAL’s responsibility is to advocate for the best interests of the child. In my experience, I did not feel there was consistent strong advocacy or willingness to fully challenge or investigate beyond what was presented in documentation.Stand up for the child they Base it on a piece of paper. stand for what is right. speak up! Because there afraid to speak up or challenge even when they know what’s not right for the child. It’s all about a piece of paper and anything looks good on a piece of paper In cases involving children, it is critical that the GAL actively stands up for the child’s needs, fully evaluates all available information, and ensures that decisions are not based on incomplete or one-sided records. This has been a very difficult process for both myself and my grandson and I believe greater accountability and deeper independent review of all circumstances is necessary in these types of cases.
