We always run out to Grey Matter Distillery in Mayport to check out their themes, so of course we made a plan to stop in for Pink Matter. I think this might be one of their more under rated themes. If not this, then their retro them for certain. It's almost hard for me to write about their cocktails nowadays because they're always so good. I went ahead and attached a LOT of photos to this review of cocktails from the past several themes they've done as well. I just love the fact that they always have real craft cocktails, not just a minor twist on something that they're charging more for. It's worth noting that they always offer Mocktails and THC infused drinks for the non alcohol drinkers. We didn't try as many things as we usually do but we REALLY liked what we did get a chance to try. Off the top of my head, I'd say the Cabana Boy was my personal favorite. That's the whiskey sour that comes as a pairing in the Twin Palms special. My wife liked everything enough that she didn't have a favorite. If you haven't been to Grey Matter Distillery; go check out this theme because it's a good one. Then make sure to keep on eye on them because I'm guessing their Retro Theme will be coming back next and I'm always excited for that one too. Grey Matter Distillery is such a vibe. The space is trendy, stylish, and full of character, which makes it an absolute dream to photograph events there. Staff is super kind and inviting! We always love working events at Grey Matter... the energy is fun, the space photographs beautifully, and it’s the kind of place that instantly elevates any celebration. Can’t wait for the next event there!
As someone who travels regularly, I love finding unique places to visit and this one topped my list. I have never found a distillery that creates all their products in house and creates these insane immersive experiences all year round. I was shocked to hear the menu, decor and everything that catches the eye was all done by their small staff. I assumed it was a company that focused on this detail. As a designer, I was blown away by these details and found myself wanting to be apart of the magic. I live a stretch from Mayport and I am not home often but I will make sure to travel here for every pop up. Oh and the vodka and whiskey were exceptional. I took them home and look forward to returning!
Decent enough place. Whiskey is ok. The issue I had is that after arriving on a Sunday afternoon at 245pm there is only one bartender for the crowd and it took “30 minutes standing in a line for one pour of mediocre whiskey. That should make it a two star review but it does have a nice ambiance so I’m sure it can be ok. Not today though. Not worth the trip for me but maybe for some.
I had to share my second experience at Grey Matter- they now have a National Lampoons Christmas Vacation pop up and if you are a fan… RUN! Don’t walk because it is amazing!! They have delicious drinks, serve popcorn, the decorations are beautiful and they even offer a scavenger hunt. They truly hit the mark. Grey matter thought of such a great idea for a pop up bar! The decor is perfect and very Instagram worthy. They have the pop up all of February so I highly recommend going to check it out. They also have a lot of different trivia nights and fun drink ideas. I highly recommend the come on Barbie! It’s delicious and fun. The I’m not a regular mom was pretty to look at but not the best tasting in my opinion.
