Grassy Gator Outdoor

We would recommend Grassy Gator! This project was decided upon to help minimize the sandy soil from being tracked into out house by our 4 dogs. Called 5 sod companies in the Jacksonville area for quotes, - looked for a quality company, with great ratings in Google and a fair price for this small, 900 square foot section of our property used for the containment of our dogs. Never having used sod before we also figured this would be a good section to do a test run to see how it takes, as compared to laying seeds. Bermuda was recommended because of the dog traffic. Nate and two gentlemen arrived on time and were personable, freindly and very knowledgeable. Nate answered questions and they all worked neatly leaving our property picked up. The sod was all set up in a couple hours, instructions were emailed to us - which will be helpful, for reference in later days. The sod is mot guaranteed so its up to us as consumers to be sure to follow instructions and be sure the sod can establish itself. Katie (owner) was also in communication with me throughout the process which allowed for some peice of mind, being again, weve never used sod before. Giving 5 stars - all expectations were met!

We had a great experience with the team at Grassy Gator. Between the hard winter, chinch bugs and drought earlier this year, we decided it was time to have some of the yard replaced. Additionally, they sodded an area where we use to have a trampoline, glad to have regained some yard there. From the quote all the way through the installation, communication and service was great. i especially appreciated the install team wanting to run the sprinklers before they left to ensure no heads were covered, etc. I would definitely use them again, although I hope we never need to ;)!

Bought one pallet of sod at $50 more than other estimates because of the good reviews - I felt it was worth the extra money. I was wrong. I was never given a time for delivery, and was not home when it was left in a pallet in the street next to my driveway. I called to complain, did get an apology, and was told that they aren't allowed to deliver it onto people's property for liability reasons. That was the first I'd heard of that. When I arrived home it had already sat out in the sun for a couple of hours. I had to pour buckets of water on it and put a tarp over it to try to keep it from getting even more dried out. My landscaper said the sod was poor quality with very little soil attached to it and did not give it high marks. Fast forward to 3 and 1/2 weeks later - half of it is dead and the other half has weeds. That's after watering it daily at an appropriate time of day. I currently have to monitor it and pull the weeds (Crabgrass and Bermuda) so they don't spread to the rest of my St Augustine. Not a good quality product in my opinion.

If you love your neighbors don't hire this company. Paved sand over our grass and refused to fix it. Highly recommend you choose a different company. They didn't even cover my neighbors entire lawn. They ran out of sod and didn't come back for over two months. (You can see the dead sod from two months ago and todays one strip install) When I asked them to cover what they damaged they refused caught a major attitude and hung up on me. Look at how terrible this looks. :(
