Easy walking trail, great for casual hiking. Wear bug spray and high socks. There are two connected trails - "white" and "red." Both trails are clearly marked with paint on trees. Both trails are easy to maneuver, however, the "white" trail is more spacious. The "red" trail is slightly cramped and has a few spots where the ground isn't even. The trail is narrow and doesn't have as much of a defined walkway, making it difficult to keep dogs away from plants where ticks are. Our dog came home with two "lone star" ticks, but he was very happy about his walk!
The trails were well marked and loop back into each other within the large loop. Good mix of sun and shade. The bugs were only a bother on one part of the red marked trail, but the bug spray definitely helped.
Solitude: Minimal foot traffic compared to nearby county parks allows for an uninterrupted pace. Trail Width: Wide double-track service roads offer clear sightlines and ample space for passing or walking side-by-side with a dog. Wildlife & Scenery: High visibility for gopher tortoises, hawks, deer, and native plant life, with scenic transitions between open pine canopy and cool hardwood hammock shade. Considerations
Amazing spot to have a walk. The trail is pretty well indicated with red and white dots on trees. Its about half on half when with shade when the suns up. It felt really great having the entire ppace to ourselfs, we only ran into 2 other couples, one halfway and one when we got back to the car. The entire walk is about 3.7 Miles. We got lucky and spotted a snake but before i could get a pic he slithered away into the shrubbery.
Nice location. I had my kids with me so we didn’t make it too far in but the part we did see was nice. Only complaint is not about the location but the people visiting. There were so many dog poop bags left by the sign and other parts of the trail. Take it with you when you leave! What’s the point of bagging it up if you’re just going to leave it. Most of it was left by the sign just inside the area (included photo of how gross people are to leave their litter/waste) and it would be so easy to just take it with you at that point.
