My daughter and I dedicated many hours selling a little over 500 boxes of cookies ($5–6 each), expecting the effort to be fairly recognized. Unfortunately, the rewards were very disappointing—we only received a few patches, stickers, and a homemade snack bag. The troop environment also felt unwelcoming, especially for newer families. My daughter was very excited about the possibility of an international trip that was mentioned, but it never materialized. Communication from leadership was unclear, and I never received confirmation on whether my daughter’s hard work made her the top seller, even though we picked up the most cookies. Overall, this was a discouraging experience, and we’ve decided not to return.

What happen to the cookies. The Dosidos Cookie use to be more of an oat cookie w/ peanut butter instead its more of a bland cookie w/ low fat peanut butter, the Tangalong Cookie taste as if its been sitting in a warehouse out of date. Please bring back the original recipe. We all were very disappointed 😞
On June 2, 2025 I reached out to the council about an issue via customer care email. The issue being that I as leader of troop 00237 (now former leader) spoke to my co-leader about her husband who was not registered or background checked staying the night at the house while we had the end of year bridging/campout on May 30th and 31st 2025. She said he would not be there. He in fact was there. Her son who was also not supposed to be there staying the night was also there and participating in activities even though he is also not registered with the troop. So, I reached out to council on the 2nd of June. They were having a training day so no call back. I called on the 3rd and spoke to someone. I finally got a call back on Wednesday from Hillary. Hillary told me not to tell the parents that a man stayed the night on the property who was not a registered member nor background checked. I waited a week. I called them back yesterday June 11, 2025 to be told I'd be getting a call from Hillary. I got no call. I got the attached email below from Hillary which clearly states that now that the co-leaders husband who was just registered and background checked that it's now fine. THIS IS NOT OKAY! The GS rules say that NO men are allowed on the property who are not registered or background checked. However her husband was only background checked and registered AFTER (June 5, 2025 to be exact) the council reached out! I told the parents what happened but this is insane! It is absolutely dangerous!
My daughter just went to Camp for Life hosted by gateway council. It was extremely expensive and I had to travel 6 hours on drop off and pick up day, for her to come home and tell me she only really enjoyed the food because her councilor was mean to her. They also never sent me the packing email, sleeping arrangements, or link to the rally hood, even after I sent an email to the council. I had to ask another mom to forward me her emails to know what was happening. When I got on the rally hood page, go figure, there's no pictures of my daughter at all. The way gateway council has been handling things lately, I'll be looking into different scouting programs for my troop.
Would not recommend. I recently placed an order and the order was CANCELLED without my knowledge. I had to follow up on it an was told that it was an issue with finding someone to deliver my cookies. First off, I should have been notified. This just shows a low business acumen. Secondly, if there is an issue with selling cookies, hire more people. More people=more people to deliver cookies=more cookies sold. Honestly, please check yourself before you wreck yourself, you are supposed to be helping raise up our future generation. UPDATE: REALLY WOULDNT RECOMMEND BASED ON UNPROFESSIONAL RESPONSE. Additionally, I'm sad that my response warranted such a reply, when there is a terrible review below mine describing an awful expirience of a little girl that appears to have been passed over. I know exactly how Girl Scouts cookie program works. I am giving you one star because the council failed, not the girls or parents. I ordered from an outreach troop for girls who are disadvantaged. Council staff would be processing the order and delivering my cookies. So, from your response, it's clear that you've already wrecked yourself.
