Arrived around 11:00 Sunday morning and enjoyed 4 hours with my two sons.. The place is large so you have plenty of space. The fans are nice when it’s warm. Everything is clean. The fellow in the shop was nice and the safety training easy enough. Coffee good. Bathrooms clean. The place seems intimidating when you drive up. But as soon as you step in the shop, everything is comfortable. The range safety guys were not intrusive as long as you are safe. I’d say this place is fairly family friendly.

I’ve been a member here for 4 years. If you’re trying to train for any competitive shooting, this is not the place unless you shoot the “ cowboy western “ matches. Most of the range officers are friendly and helpful, but there are certainly a few that will talk to you in a condescending and demeaning manner, which as a member, I find absolutely appalling. For example, I had IPSC and USPSA targets at the same height as their steel plate racks and I was told that the paper targets had to be lower. I asked what height they needed to be the range safety says “ READ MY LIPS, ALL THE WAY DOWN “. This was right after he told me that they needed to be on level with the plate rack. He said all of this all while blowing his nasty $2 cigar smoke in my face. I really wish you guys would change things. I know quite a few members that come here and setup their own target stands using USPSA targets that are at plate rack level or higher and no one has ever said a word. This is also the first time any RSO here has said anything. Do better! Members don’t pay an annual fee to be talked to in a demeaning or derogatory manner.
Really cool affordable gun range. Really enjoy shooting here. They do have a long video and a test to be able to shoot. That's no big deal. Easy test and once you do it you don't do it again for 2 years. Only down side is the membership is really expensive and the only rifle range for mon members is sit down only. I wish they would add a stand up rifle lane for non members.
They make you watch a video and take a test before letting you on the range. The layout is confusing. You get 2 free targets, but if you want to use them, you have to pay for tape or a staple gun. Parking is also very limited. Just go to Salwaters Shooting Club, it's well worth the drive.
A very fun time out here, the instructors are patient and understanding. They take time to make sure you get it done and get it done the right way. I would honestly come here often if I didn't live so far away! Thanks guys at Gateway Rifle & Pistol Club.
