Garden City Park-Lem Turner

A park that once had so much potential, that you can see was once a great place to play, is totally worn out and destroyed. The fact that the city even allowed it to slip so far out of usable condition is sad. Jacksonville city should be ashamed of themselves. The pictures I'm sharing, dont do justice on how warn out this place is.

It's a nice park but people just straight up don't use the garbage cans, it's not like they're lacking garbage cans either.

The park is situated on a quaint lot, which is actually quite picturesque with nice trees and a little sidewalk around the perimeter of the playground. Basketball court is in great shape and looks to have been repainted with new nets installed recently. Most of the playground equipment is pretty worn, although there are a couple of new slides and other pieces. Two slides are missing, likely ones in pictures in other reviews that were damaged. Unfortunately the park is situated in a dilapidated area, which tend to attract questionable characters. In fact, my five year old found a large knife in a sheath on one of the play equipment. Grills are all rusted and or broken. This could be a really nice place even considering the surrounding area, but it would probably take routine police drive-bys to ensure that. Would cautiously recommend as long as those accompanying the children give it a once over before allowing them to play.

This place is HORRIBLE! it smells so freaking bad. I’m pretty sure people are using the bathroom there. Homeless people sleeping and trashing the entire table area. It didn’t look too bad from road which is why we stopped. I am not from here and I try not to judge the surrounding areas, but that has failed me in the situation. DO NOT COME HERE
