This is not a professional environment. Much of the staff is ineffective, and in some cases, student support services appear to work against the very students they are supposed to help—even to the point of potentially violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. One staff member in student services, Michelle, may come across as kind and supportive, but in my experience, that impression is misleading. Rather than advocating for students, her actions seem focused on finding ways to reduce or revoke accommodations that have already been approved. There appears to be a broader culture among some staff of prioritizing self-protection over student support. Once their own position feels secure, their approach toward students can shift negatively. I feel misled. I genuinely believed student services existed to support students with disabilities, but my experience has been the opposite. Instead of helping, Michelle and others in her role have caused harm to students who need support the most.
I actually, I am a Jehovah, witness.We had our memorial service there, and\nOne of these smaller auditorium, which was very nice, peaceful, large parking lot. Everything went beautifully. It was a very pleasant evening.
REVIEW OF SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM: I had a great experience at Florida State College at Jacksonville while completing my prerequisites. Most of the professors during that time were professional, although a few were not very responsive when students had questions. Once I was accepted into the Surgical Technology program, my experience changed dramatically. I encountered extremely unprofessional staff behavior, favoritism, bullying by instructors, exams that did not reflect the curriculum, unfair grading practices, and an overwhelming amount of homework with unrealistic deadlines. There also seemed to be poor organization and constant changes to lab rules and expectations. Leadership did not adequately address these concerns, which allowed the negative environment to continue. A program that should support and prepare future healthcare professionals instead created unnecessary stress and discouragement. I would strongly recommend researching other accredited Surgical Technology programs before choosing this one.
I have been going to FSCJ cosmetology department for a few weeks now. I love the professional, teamwork, understanding and the ability to handle all types of clients. Kayla is my stylist and she goes above and beyond of what I expect from a beautician. If you are ever in need of a silk press please check her out. This is the very first time that my hair has kept it style after a silk press and the rain. They are open on Saturdays from 8:30 until 2pm. Please go see them and they accept walk in.
Applying to college is a very intimidating process for an adult and I personally find it carries a stigma of being almost impossible. I have had some less than great experiences in the past working with different institutions, so I will admit I was very nervous to jump back into getting my education. Today, Jacob, from the FSCJ North Campus, completely changed my opinion. Not often do you get to work with someone so eager to help, so patient, and so understanding of your individual needs. I cannot say enough about my interaction with Jacob, and how easily he got me set up for the proper tests in order to further my education with FSCJ. 10 stars!! Thank you!!
