Fort Clinch State Park was one of the highlights of our Amelia Island trip. The fort is incredibly well preserved, and it was fascinating to walk through the rooms, tunnels, and grounds while imagining what life was like there. It was especially meaningful because our 8-year-old is learning about this period of history in school, and seeing it in person really brought those lessons to life. The beach access was easy and beautiful, making it simple to explore the shoreline. We were even lucky enough to find a shark tooth, which made our son's day! The volunteers and staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the entire park was clean and well maintained. Between the history, nature, and beach, Fort Clinch offers something for everyone. We highly recommend visiting and will definitely be back!
We stayed at campsite #60 from 9/15-9/17/26 at the River side campground. All sites are nice and shaded. Our site was a pretty good size. I could fit my pickup and 31’ travel trailer in the site w/o unhooking. They have a firepit and picnic table. There also is a place on site where you can hang towels or etc. The bathrooms are air conditioned and very clean. There are laundry facilities at the bathroom area on both sides of the building. The beach is pretty nice. There are multiple hiking/biking (mountain bike) trails on site. The Ft. Clinch Museum and Fort are nice places to visit also.
My husband and I stopped at Fort Clinch State Park on our way out of Florida and it was perfect. ❤️ They tell you to imagine stepping back in time and you really do. ⏳ We love learning about history together and exploring the whole fort was unforgettable. 🏰
Visited this state park last week. It was cool to see these buildings and think about the history behind them. The kids with us during the visit had a great time exploring. There weren’t too many other visitors which made it feel private. It was hot day and a lot of walking so don’t forget your water bottle.
The fort was awesome! I didn’t take too many photos as I wanted to be in the moment but a few things we saw was the really cool American flag (I’ve personally never seen this design of the 35-38 star flag) and we saw a tortoise going to find lunch! The history of the fort is definitely worth learning about by reading in the museum. Highly recommend checking this fort out!
