What the fish...yes! So we ate at the bar, Kristen and Toni took great care of us at the bar so yeah, ask and yee shall receive! Had the grouper fingers, oh yes a must do! Cesear salads, yum. I had blackened Mahi, he had Cajun Salmon and shrimp...all great. Great beer selection, and solid cocktail pours. Worth the visit be it local or staying at a hotel nearby!!
🍽️ Flying Fish Taphouse 📍 Jacksonville, FL 🕘 Dinner As both a customer and a chef, here’s my experience: Overall Impression: I had just arrived in Jacksonville and needed to wait for someone, so we decided to check this place out. It was surprisingly busy—but honestly, I think we made a great choice. Service: The service stood out right away. Our server was extremely friendly and in a great mood. She walked us through the daily specials and had a very relaxed, welcoming vibe—even sitting down with us for a moment, which we found amusing in a good way. It felt personal and genuine. Meal: Gator Tails – First time trying them—interesting and actually pretty good. Jambalaya – Very flavorful, well-seasoned, and satisfying. House Salad (Blue Cheese & Balsamic) – Heavy on the blue cheese, but since I enjoy it, it worked perfectly for me. Final Thoughts: If you’re near the airport—whether you’re waiting for a flight, picking someone up, or just staying nearby—this spot is definitely worth a visit, especially at night. It’s fun, lively, and delivers a solid dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in the area. Taste & Quality: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10)
Flying Fish Taphouse was a major disappointment for us. With fish being in rhe restaurants name we thought it would be a good call to get a fish dish. Holy cow were we wrong. That fish wrap stunk like weeks old fish. I normally am OK to swap dishes with my wife if she isn't happy with what she ordered... not this time. I was gagging trying to just take a single bite. My burger was good. Our waitress came and saw we hardly touched the fish wrap and said "would you like a box" to which we replied "no thanks" the she didn't even offer to get my wife something else, let alone comp the meal. Would not recommend eating any fish from the Flying "FISH" Taphouse. Beers were ok.
The food was delicious with huge portions. We had the fish and chips, Nashville hot chicken and the flounder. There are gluten free choices but the menu doesn’t specify that. The staff is friendly and attentive. The space is modern and inviting. We sat on the patio by the fire pit afterwards to listen to live music. If you stay next door in the Townplace Hotel, you get 20% off. Highly recommend.
Excellent food & service! Lorenzo was our waiter and was attentive without being overbearing. The food was really good. The calamari appetizer was a little small - but taste made up for it. Very tender; not chewy and overcooked. The sweet potato tots were a first for me and were really good. Shrimp and oysters were cooked well. We will be back.
