  My experience at Florida Retina Institute was exceptional. From the moment I arrived, both the assistant and the physician recognized that I was experiencing an eye emergency and acted quickly to evaluate and treat me. I had no idea what was happening, but they took the time to thoroughly explain my condition, the expected prognosis, and the importance of timely follow-up. I was able to fill my prescribed medications immediately after leaving the office and started treatment the same day. Although my vision was not restored immediately, I noticed improvement within 24 hours, and by the second day, I was able to see out of the affected eye again. Before treatment, my vision was like looking through a frosted or textured bathroom window—I could make out shadows and movement but could not distinguish faces or details. It was frightening to experience such a sudden loss of vision, but I was incredibly thankful that I was evaluated so quickly. One thing that truly impressed me is that Florida Retina Institute has ophthalmologists available on call seven days a week, allowing patients with urgent eye conditions to be seen promptly when every minute counts. I also do not have health insurance, and I realized that going directly to the specialist likely saved me a significant amount of money compared with visiting an emergency department. More importantly, I received expert care from the physicians who specialize in treating viral keratitis emergencies. I am extremely grateful to the entire team at Florida Retina Institute for their professionalism, compassion, and prompt care. They quite literally helped save my vision, and I would highly recommend them to anyone experiencing an eye emergency.
