I recently had the pleasure of working with First Mate Yacht Services, and I can't recommend them enough! Justin and his team were exceptional. From the moment I contacted them, Justin's great attitude and extensive knowledge of marine diesel generators stood out. They quickly diagnosed the issue with my generator as a compromised mixing elbow. What impressed me the most was how swiftly they procured the necessary parts and got me back on the water. Their efficiency and professionalism were truly commendable. Thanks to Justin and the team, I can confidently say I will be a returning customer for any future repairs. If you need quality service and a team that cares, look no further than First Mate Yacht Services!
I recently had a Yanmar diesel engine problem when I arrived in St Augustine. I called First Mate and spoke with Justin. Though he was too busy to visit the boat, he took the time to help diagnose the problem by phone. It took several calls/texts over two days - Justin was quick to respond and committed to helping. Once diagnosed, I he ordered the needed part and was able to get it in less than 24 hours from Yanmar. What a coup! Many thanks to Justin and his shop for quality support and smart service! 1/14/26
Jim and Matt were experienced, knowledgeable, and did a great job diagnosing my Yanmar overheating problem and getting me underway again quickly. Great guys, great service.
I hired First Mate Yacht Services after another mechanic told me I needed my Yanmar overhauled. Justin came out the same day and had it running in 30 minutes. He knows his stuff and showed me how to fix the problem if it happens again.
We had fuel issues with our sailboat. 1st Mate was very responsive to phone calls and instructed us on how to coordinate with marinas. They were at the boat, at a different marina than their home location, within 6 business hrs. The price was right, the problem got fixed, and the men who came were very informative and polite. I would not hesitate to use this service should I ever be in the St. Augustine area and need help again. I couldn’t be more satisfied!
