Hotel was clean and service was great however what took this to an extreme excellence was the attention by blondie and Jackie the front desk agents. On checkin blondie was very friendly and informative on near by restaurants. Jackie on Saturday saved the day when she called to tell me that my daughter had left her luggage at the hotel reception while we were standing in line at customs at the cruise port if it wasn’t for her we would have sailed without it. This staff went upon and beyond. Definitely up holding the Marriott brand.

I chose the Fairfield Inn & Suites near Jacksonville Airport after attending a conference at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront because I wanted to spend my last few days relaxing before flying home. Cost wasn't a factor. My only requirements were simple: an outdoor pool, a buffet-style breakfast, and a free airport shuttle. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any of those amenities. The biggest disappointment was the pool. It was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel. I was never notified before my arrival that it was closed, even though it had apparently been closed for days. I also wasn't told at check-in. Instead, I found out after walking down to the pool in my swimsuit, ready to enjoy my vacation day, only to be told it would remain closed for several more days. When I asked why guests weren't informed, the front desk clerk replied that it was the owner's responsibility. While that may be true, a simple courtesy at check-in would have allowed me to cancel my reservation and stay at one of the many nearby hotels with a working pool. The next disappointment was breakfast. I went down around 8:00 a.m., with breakfast scheduled until 9:00 a.m., but the buffet was far below expectations. Three different juice options were empty, the scrambled eggs had already run out and staff said they would not be making more, and there was no waffle batter. Instead of refilling it, they simply unplugged the waffle maker. My breakfast ended up being bacon the first morning, and I skipped breakfast entirely the second morning. What stood out most was the staff's attitude. Everyone seemed far too comfortable with running out of food and amenities, and there was little sense of urgency or concern for customer satisfaction. It felt like everyone was simply going through the motions rather than trying to provide a positive guest experience. Finally, I joked with my husband that my luck would probably continue and the airport shuttle wouldn't be available when I needed it. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. The hotel had no shuttle driver available, so I had to pay for an Uber to the airport. No one offered reimbursement, a discount, or even an apology for the inconvenience. In the price of my room, I paid for three services that were advertised but ultimately not provided: an outdoor pool, a buffet breakfast, and complimentary airport transportation. Had I known none of those would be available, I would have happily booked one of the many other hotels in the area. I contacted Marriott Customer Care, but I was told any compensation was entirely up to the hotel owner. That was disappointing. If Marriott allows a property to operate under its brand, I believe there should be some level of accountability to ensure guests receive the amenities and service that are advertised. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've experienced, not only because of the missing amenities but because of the lack of communication, accountability, and customer service throughout my stay.
I don't usually do a negative rating.I always try to look at the positive and give positive ratings. However, this hotel needs to be blasted. We stayed in this hotel. Thank goodness it was only for 1 night because I would been really ticked if I had more than one night to stay here. Let me start with the good and then I'll go to the bad. The good when we got there, our room was ready. We got up to our room and I inspected the room for bugs and cleanliness. The bed portion of the room was acceptably clean. The linens were fresh. The bed portion of room was clean and well stocked. I called down because we needed a crib, and one was brought up Immediately. However, I did ask for linens for said crib and never received them.So I was not able to use the crib for the baby. However the shower, now that was another story. In between the shower doors was absolutely filthy. There was a silverfish actively crawling in the shower. There were hairs in our shower from the prior tenant. There was mold around the inside of the shower along the caulking. The outside of the hotel, the garbage can areas really need to be pressure Washed and the front walkways need to be pressure washed. They were filthy. Now let's talk about the next morning for breakfast. As we were trying to get out, I was standing in front of the waffle Irons, trying to figure out how to work both of them and the breakfast hostess informed me and the other guests There were "no waffles". The bread area was completely unstocked. The juice machine was broken down. You had to get a juice from the Refrigerator out of a big bottle. There was a gallon of milk and a half gallon of orange juice in that refrigerator for the entire breakfast group to use. There were no individual cream cheeses For the 4 bagels available. They had a 12 ounce bucket of cream cheese with a knife in it for everyone to use.I don't know about you, but I find this unacceptable for a Marriott. Unfortunately for this hotel, the area of town that they're in in Jacksonville, Florida, by the airport seems to be extremely run down. And the hotel itself feels very run down.I was very glad to leave. This hotel, honestly, I would consider more of a Motel 6 than a Marriott. If you are looking for a nice stay as part of your vacation, stay away from this hotel. We drove 15 miles to go Look at the ocean and there are much nicer hotels over by Jacksonville Beach.
I had a terrible experience at this Fairfield by Marriott. Shortly after checking into my first room, I found multiple insect bites on my legs and even saw a tiny black bug that was jumping. I reported it to the front desk, and they moved me to another room. Unfortunately, the replacement room was just as disappointing. The bed had hair all over the sheets, there was hair on the counters, and the bathroom was visibly dirty. A hotel should not be moving guests from one problem room into another that clearly wasn’t cleaned properly. I’ve attached photos of the bites and the condition of the second room. Cleanliness should be the absolute minimum standard, especially for a Marriott property. This stay was unacceptable, and I would not recommend staying here ever!! UPDATE: the next day I wake up from the new room they gave me found bugs and got more bites!!! Stay away!! I left immediately forget the rest of my stay there!!
Very basic hotel with great customer service. Blondie was very pleasant and personable during check in. Room wasn’t horrible, but also nothing stood out. The location is 10/10, close to the airport, many shops, and lots of restaurants. My room had a cd player which was different
