My review of this practice is long overdue! My overall experience at this practice has been great, however, I highly recommend getting to know all of the physicians and shop around for the ones you want to stick with if you plan on staying at this practice for your ob needs especially if you are pregnant. I have been going to this practice for several years and even contemplated on leaving because of one particular doctor whom I will not name. This particular doctor I will say is dismissive, cold, rigid, and not very receptive to feedback. I won't go into any more detail with that but I left crying after what I will say would be my last visit with her. I am sure as a surgeon she is great. Some would say that she is frank, and that she is. Sure, she states the facts but she doesn't exactly give the warm and fuzzies and If you are pregnant and want to maintain your mental health, I don't recommend her. I'd say she needs to work on some of her people skills because I get the vibe that she is all knowing and that she lacks the ability to re-evaluate or take the accountability for the shortcomings of her practice. Her bedside manner is not for the faint of heart. But like I said, do your shopping and hopefully you will find the right fit. Don't be afraid to ask questions and if you run into someone who makes you feel like you asked the "wrong" question or is even offended that you asked an appropriate question, then they are not the person for you. There are plenty of other doctors, nurses, and staff that I have met at this practice that have made me want to stay. I highly recommend the following people: Mrs. Latasha - When a customer calls or walks into a medical facility, they want to feel welcomed and respected and that is exactly what she does best. The first people you see aren't the doctors, it's the front desk staff. They are the first in the line of defense and are the ones that will likely influence your first impressions. I will say that in all my phone calls/encounters with Mrs. Latasha, she has always been consistent and goes above and beyond to make sure my questions and concerns are answered. If she doesn't know the answer she will find a way to lead you in the right direction. You will never be turned away! Honestly, give her a raise! Her customer service is 10/10. Dr. Mason - I wish she delivered my baby! She is probably one of the best doctors that I have had in a very long time. She is very attentive to your concerns and talks to you like you are still human. She is very informative but is not condescending at all when she has important information to share. Not only that, she is relatable. I have never felt like my concerns were dismissed. She is great at addressing everything and is very thorough in her evaluations. Her approach seemed to be very holistic so if you like that, then she is your girl. Dr. Carranco & Dr. Porter - They are wonderful doctors too. Great bedside manner. I had pretty good first impressions. Jessica Hough, Danielle Pritchard, and Sjoukje Mooneyham - All the nurse practitioners are wonderful! I have come across a lot of mistakes at this clinic through the years but somehow, they all seem to get it right! Mooneyham is my personal favorite. The staff for the most part are pretty great. They are very professional. I have had good encounters overall in my experience with all of their departments from front office staff, to labs, imaging, and most of the physicians. All of their facilities are pretty well maintained, however, they may need to work on sanitation. There have been a number of times when I have submitted my urine samples and the pass box is stacked with other patient's urine samples and the napkin that they get stacked on gets soiled. Not sure if I particularly agree with how they stage the urine cups either because instead of providing you with the cup at the front desk, they expose all of the cups to everyone in an open basket in the bathroom, which is not exactly a sterile environment.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after two disappointing experiences, I feel it’s important to share mine. I was first seen on April 1st for concerns that were very important to me, and I left feeling completely dismissed. After continued health issues, my hematologist’s office recommended I see a different provider within the same practice, so I gave the office another chance, hoping for a different experience. Unfortunately, I left feeling just as discouraged. I explained that I had already undergone extensive testing through my hematologist, including comprehensive blood work, a colonoscopy, endoscopy, mammogram, and DEXA scan. The visit focused primarily on birth control options to eliminate bleeding. When I asked questions, I was told in fact, I would not be a candidate for the two options I was interested in. So basically, no solution. I left without feeling like the underlying reason for my symptoms had been addressed. I was also told I needed an ultrasound, but the office couldn’t schedule it because they didn’t have anyone available to perform it and suggested I simply go to Precision Imaging instead. Before leaving, the provider mentioned giving me informational pamphlets, but I never received them. When I asked the nurse about them, she wasn’t sure what the provider had been referring to. I also asked the doctor a question as she was leaving the room and she simply printed orders to check testosterone levels. After I reiterated that I had already completed extensive testing, I was told to wait while they reviewed everything, but by that point I was frustrated and disappointed and decided to leave. What saddens me most is that I chose this practice because I had wonderful experiences with several of the physicians during my pregnancies and deliveries. I expected the same level of compassion and thoroughness, but that was not my experience during either of these recent visits. To add to the frustration, I’m now receiving emails encouraging me to schedule another appointment. At this point, I don’t feel confident that my concerns would be heard. Patients deserve to feel listened to, taken seriously, and included in decisions about their care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
I began care at this practice after relocating from Houston and initially had a positive experience, including during my pregnancy in 2017. Over time, however, my experience has declined. I want to note that Dr. Fox has consistently been professional, personable, and attentive, although appointments with her are often delayed, so patients should plan accordingly. Outside of that, I have experienced concerns with both care and administration. I was repeatedly scheduled with another provider (intentionally did not name) whose communication style I found to be limited and not supportive during times I was seeking care. I also experienced an issue during a procedure that resulted in a burn, which I attribute to equipment use during the procedure. This raised concerns for me regarding overall attention to care. Additionally, I encountered ongoing communication and scheduling inconsistencies related to Pap smears. On one occasion, I scheduled an appointment and was turned away after arrival and informed that I did not need one annually. During a later scheduling interaction, I specifically raised that prior experience and discussed timing; however, I continued to receive repeated calls and text messages indicating I was due. Based on those communications, I scheduled another appointment, attended the visit, and understood that the procedure had been performed. When I later contacted the office to inquire about results, I was informed that no Pap smear had been recorded for that visit. I do have written communications with staff reflecting these interactions. My most recent interaction with billing on April 14, 2026, was also unprofessional in tone, which ultimately influenced my decision. Based on my overall experience, I have decided to seek care elsewhere. While the facility itself is clean and well-maintained, I cannot recommend this practice generally, except in the case of care provided by Dr. Fox.
Jayla Caldwell at front desk for Merrimac location handled the scheduling beautifully, Jayla was personable and polite while handling the call with excellence. I look forward to my upcoming visit. This will be my second time at this location, the entire staff provides wonderful service from start to finish- Thank you Jayla for representing the practice well :)
Dr. Kohaut was one of the most rude, inconsiderate, condescending, and judgmental physicians I have ever encountered. After recently getting married, I began experiencing several concerning symptoms that I believed were related to my current birth control. I scheduled an appointment with her to discuss what I was experiencing and explore possible solutions. Before I was even able to fully explain my concerns, I felt immediately judged, both personally and in regard to my relationship with my husband. When I attempted to describe what I had been dealing with, I was dismissed and told to stop listening to influencers and information online, as if that were the causes of my issues. Additionally, I was asked whether I was truly happy in my marriage, which felt inappropriate and unrelated to the medical concerns I was seeking help for. When I inquired about the possibility of hormone testing or supplements to help manage my symptoms, I was told that testing was unnecessary and that she already knew what the results would show. Most concerning, she insinuated that this was ultimately an issue I would have to manage entirely on my own, without guidance, support, or a willingness to explore potential solutions together. As someone currently working in the medical field and preparing to earn a doctorate, I found this experience especially disappointing. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and supported in their care. She is the kind of doctor I strive not to be.
