I can't even begin to tell you what a horrible experience.I had with doctor martinez. Just the simple fact that he was late for every one of her telehealth sessions. Was one of the most irritant things about him. And i'm not talking fifteen minutes or even twenty. I'm talking thirty five, sometimes forty to fifty minutes late. With no apology ever. I'm not sure how many blind patients dr.Martinez has, although I am one of them. I have cortical blindness. Every time we discussed it, doctor martinez insisted that he understood that cortical blindness meant that I could see in some way shape or form. I had to remind him every single time that cortical blindness had a spectrum. Mine was the worst case scenario. In my case, I see nothing at all. 5 years i had to remind him of this during almost every session. Does he not take notes? As I said, I find it hard to believe, he has more than one or two blind patients! This finally came to a head when after 5 years of his diagnosis changing To something completely different than it has been. For the last five, i just couldn't take it anymore. I wrote him a note explaining to him Which also included the documentation of cortical blindness so that he might get the point about his arrogance and his lack of knowledge on the subject. My note was not disrespectful in any way. I also commented on the fact that he was late for every session. And that he might possibly consider having some respect for other people's time. Instead of apologizing or admitting that he could possibly the wrong in any way shape or form, he suggested that I look for another provider. Talk about arrogance!!! No empathy, no sympathy, and no regard for anyone but himself. Do yourself a favor, do not. Go to this office for any reason! Trust me you will be sorry.
Go elsewhere for the treatment of your mental health for you or your loved one. Dr. Martinez is an insensitive and uncaring doctor with a poor bedside manner. He had me stop one medication and immediately start another one without properly tapering me off. I went from being severely depressed to having a manic episode. I had expressed to Dr. Martinez that I had not been sleeping well. He just told me to double the dose of the new medication. I ended spending 10 days at Baptist Hospital. Dr. Martinez wouldn’t even return the calls of the physician who was caring for me or my mother’s call. I found Dr. Martinez’ behavior to be appalling and sessions with him at the office were uncomfortable and unpleasant. I switched to another provider because the treatment I received from Martinez was sub par. Absolutely the WORST psychiatrist I’ve encountered in my 30 year battle with bipolar and major depressive disorder.
A new company took over the practice. My doctor was out on maternity leave. Two weeks before my appointment. I was called to inform me “ my doctor was no, longer with the company”. That my appointment was move back a week. I arrived for my appointment. I and another person was inform , there was a problem with the system. That our appointment was not in the system. That we would not be seen today. That we would be able to get refill for ,our meds. The other person was able to make another appointment. But because I had an attitude. I was not given, the opportunity.
Dr. Martinez and his staff at both locations are amazing, they have taken wonderful care of her and when needed, our family. She was in a car accident that caused traumatic brain injury w/lots of other issues. She has multiple Dr.'s & didn't want another one, especially a Psychiatrist, however she was required to. Now, she enjoys seeing him, he is such a wonderful Dr. and person, to her. He found some issues w/medications that she was taking when she 1st started seeing him, that should not have been mixed together & later on in 2016, he did Gene testing to make sure what she was allowed to take and what she could not. She has a Gene anomaly, that causes her not to be able to take a large group of medications. With out the list, we would not have known what made her so sick a couple of months ago. I really appreciate everything Dr. Martinez has done for my wife. DMH!
I had been a patient here since 2010. My initial care provider was a woman named Rebecca Perry. She was one of the kindest, most caring people I ever had the honor of knowing. Not only did she care about my well being while monitoring me on fluoxetine, she also would discuss any side issues I had going on in my life at the time. Unfortunately, all good things eventually come to an end. Mrs Perry was offered a better job with the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville circa 2012, which inevitably lead to me being given Geraldine Rodriguez-Pratt as my care provider. My first impressions of Mrs. Rodriguez-Pratt were mediocre. She lacked compassion, never made eye contact, never listened to me about any uncomfortable feelings I had at the time, and would read off the same ten questions from her little laptop during every meeting. She did not know ANYTHING about the medicine I was provided and when prompted to explain the side effects, would consistently change the subject. Over the next five years, I continued my treatment with Mrs. Rodriguez-Pratt. Unfortunately, her extremely unprofessional behavior continued. She continued to degrade my moral by consistently putting me down and making me feel as lost, helpless, and alone as I had years prior to seeking treatment. She convinced me that I was unable to lead a normal life without the medicine I was prescribed, to which she knew nothing about. How someone as cruel and compassionless can be employed at an establishment that monitors the mental well being of people will forever allude me. What I hope to gain from posting this review is to assist others before making a serious medical decision. By trusting someone as severely unqualified as Geraldine Rodriguez-Pratt, you are only doing yourself harm. This establishment should be ashamed at the years of abuse that they have marketed to the public through employees such as Mrs. Rodriguez-Pratt.
