“ElderSource presents itself as an agency that supports seniors and caregivers, but my family’s experience was heartbreaking and disappointing. After years of caregiving for my mother, who suffered from dementia, we reached out hoping for real assistance, guidance, and timely services. Instead, we were placed on a waitlist while my mother’s condition continued to decline. Before any meaningful help ever arrived, my mother passed away and no longer needed their services. Receiving a generic letter telling us to ‘wait’ while elderly people and exhausted caregivers struggle daily felt cold and disconnected from reality. Seniors do not have unlimited time to sit on waitlists while agencies and administrators shuffle paperwork and funding around. Many families are already overwhelmed emotionally, physically, and financially by the time they contact organizations like this. The most frustrating part is knowing that funding exists somewhere in the system, yet so little seems to reach the people actually suffering and in need. There appear to be too many layers of bureaucracy and oversight while vulnerable seniors are left waiting — and in some cases dying — before receiving support. Caregivers are burned out, families are desperate, and the response is often another phone number, another assessment, or another waitlist. The staff may be polite, but politeness does not replace action. Families need real help when they ask for it, not after it is too late. My mother deserved dignity and timely support during the final years of her life, and our family deserved more than delays and form letters. I hope this organization seriously reevaluates how resources are distributed and how long seniors are expected to wait for essential services. No family should go through what we did.”
I was interviewed by Mrs. Jackson.I am legally blind.\nAnd I had someone that was helping me , but since she scored me 2 out of 24 the only thing I don't need help with is in the best bathroom. But she give me a score of a number 2, the person that was helping me for about 6 months, had to go find a job and I fell and broke my clavicle, and my right foot, her prejudice was obvious over the phone. She'll tell you what you wanna hear until she gets off. And she won out answered the phone after that, keep doing your good work. Maybe one will lose their life because of your prejudice, Ms. Jackson.
Just spoke with Jonica. She was so great; gave me resource info from their database, explained what sort of licensing I should look for in the state of FL, and answered questions about other resources I'd found on my own. I did not feel rushed through our call. Don't know yet if any of these suggestions will pan out, but my initial call to them was good.
I cannot thank the staff of Elder Source enough for helping my family in our time of need. Both Jonica and Renee were not only a pleasure to communicate with, I know they legitimately cared and I’m tremendously grateful. Sincerely.
The VA should find a better company to handle its VDC program. They take a large amount of money from the veteran budget to do a few payroll checks that take very little time to do every other week. VERY SLOW to get things done when the veteran needs to hire a new person and with the exception of one man there, very slow to respond to things. Veteran not notified of personell changes when their counselor quits and it seems like there is alot of internal inefficiency and personell changes. The VA should handle this vdc program in house instead of paying this company high fees.
