I love looking for places that remind me of home; PR. Missing my island so much but the responsibility of family keeps me here. So, whenever I have a chance my mom and I venture out to local Boricua places in JAX. WE LOVED, the environment, very well decorated and the music was on point. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Definitely reminded me of home. The food was great. My mom had a masposteao rice with a side of cuajitos and it was amazing. The cuajitos were very soft and melt in your mouth( not super chewing like other places). We loved it !!! The alcapuria and relleno de yuca were ok, definitely have tasted better. We ordered the soursop juice and passion fruit and they were great!!! We ordered mofongo and chicharon de Pollo to go and it was amazing!!! Overall a great experience. Definitely a great day out without the children in our lives. Thank you so much!!! ❤️ see you soon.
The food here was absolutely DELICIOUS! I am always looking for Puerto Rican restaurants, searching for the taste of home, and I’ve eaten at several spots, but El Pegao takes the trophy. It’s so good and it’s super filling! The service is also fast and friendly. I can’t wait to go back!
Even though I’ve been to this restaurant many years ago but I think it’s under new admin, I recently went two weekends on a row and for a reason! Food it’s delicious, 100% authentic Puerto Rican food, the kan kan pork chop,rice,soups,empanadillas, arroz con gandules , tembleque and flan all was really good, the atmosphere it’s clean and very Puerto Rican authentic, very extensive menu, salsa music playing in the background, and the employees and chef are very friendly and welcoming. I’m coming back for the red snapper soon.
Great service and food selection. Reminded me of my grandma's food. They also packed my daughter's food nicely and had it ready by the time I was finished eating. I will definitely visit again soon. Update: still amazing!!!!
Absolutely loved the food! Everything was delicious and truly reminded me of the flavors back on the island. I’ve eaten at a lot of places in Puerto Rico, and I can honestly say the food here was even better than many of them. I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this place sooner! Definitely a hidden gem, and I will absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend! 🇵🇷
