Our experience with Dr. Saswata Roy was extremely disappointing, especially for a pediatric specialist. From the moment the appointment began, it was clear that bedside manner was lacking. Dr. Roy opened the exam room door without knocking at the exact moment my anxious 3-year-old was walking by it, startling him. My son immediately became upset and began crying. Rather than taking a moment to help him feel comfortable, Dr. Roy simply asked, “Is it me?” and then instructed me to turn my son around so he could examine him while he was actively crying. The examination of my son’s throat lasted only a few seconds. Without asking about his recent symptoms, reviewing the history of what had been happening over the previous several weeks, or discussing other possible causes, Dr. Roy immediately recommended surgery and performing an adenoid scope—all while my son was still hysterical. When I tried to explain the timeline of my son’s symptoms and ask questions before moving forward with invasive recommendations, Dr. Roy responded, “Oh, this is the first time this has happened.” I continued explaining the situation over my son’s crying and asked what else, besides strep, could be causing the enlarged tonsils. His response was, “I don’t know. I’m not (our pediatrician name).” That was surprising to hear from a pediatric ENT specialist. I then mentioned that our pediatrician had suggested a short course of steroids as a possible treatment to reduce the swelling since this was the first occurrence. Dr. Roy changed course and said, “Oh, okay, yeah, let’s do that and follow up in four weeks.” When I questioned waiting four weeks, he simply replied, “Okay, three.” The entire visit with the specialist lasted no more than 10 minutes. We left with a prescription for steroids—the same treatment our pediatrician had already discussed—and a follow-up appointment, after spending approximately $300. My son cried from the moment the doctor entered the room until we walked out. Every child deserves patience, compassion, and a physician who takes the time to make them feel safe. Every parent deserves to have their concerns heard before recommendations for surgery are made. Unfortunately, we experienced neither during this visit.
Dr. Roy was a terrible doctor. He lied to my kids and told them that he was just going to look into their nose, then shoved a camera tube right up into their nostril and down the back of their throats, without warning!! His behavior was disgusting and his office manager will not get back to me about this incident. Dn not take your child to see Dr. Roy!
We had a great experience with Dr Roy. He was a very direct communicator, which I really appreciated, while still being gentle and reassuring throughout the visit. He took the time to understand our concerns, explained things clearly, and offered multiple paths moving forward. We felt heard, informed, and well cared for.
My visit was as expected. Courteous and very professional. My doctor made the right choice for me for my hearing issues. Thank you for all your help in deciding my hearing health going forward.
I just saw Dr Roy after being diagnosed with a few issues at the hospital. They got me in quickly first of all and when I had issues finding the building, they literally stayed on the phone with me until I found the place! At check in, the staff was super friendly and understanding and the whole process was quick and efficient. The doctor came in and asked some questions and examined me but also asked if I had any additional questions or concerns. This is a VERY smooth running practice. It’s hard to come by a specialist that listens to you, explains things well, and has compassion and empathy as well as great communication and follow up without making you feel like you are too high maintenance. This specialist is BOMB! I will be loyal to this ENT and if you or your family are in the market for a new ENT, this is the one for you!! Book an appointment! They have multiple locations as well.
