I moved back to Florida after two TDDL failed. My ankle was killing me. I did not want a fusion. He seen my MRI and said I needed a fusion. I got the fusion. I'm three months out and doing as said. No pain anymore. Getting stronger daily! Dr. Acevado and Stephen Peppers make a great team that listen!
Had a displaced fracture on my foot. After nearly a month of referrals to a couple of different doctors I wound up with Dr Acevedo. He and his team went beyond the standard support and worked with me and my insurance to make sure I would be able to have surgery ASAP with my insurance coverage. I could write several more paragraphs about my story, but rather I will leave you with this. Dr Jorge Acevedo cares about your injury and wants to work with you for the best possible outcome.
I had twisted my tibia/fibula during my freshman year of wrestling. I ended up having a spiral fracture of the tibia and fibula. I was relieved to hear that I did not have to undergo an expensive surgery and that this injury could be treated conservatively. Dr. Acevedo is not out for money like other providers these days. He really cares about the quality of my care and has an exceptional team that were helpful for any questions I had. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Acevedo to anyone with a foot or ankle injury. The wait in the waiting room was a little long, however it was worth it.
UPDATE 5/31/24: I went back to see his PAC Peppers. He wanted a definitive diagnosis and ordered an MRI. Result: I have severe plantar fasciitis (knew that) and mild Achilles tendonitis. This confirms (A) the doctor did a poor job of identifying where to place the shot in my heel and (B) the doctor did a poor job of identifying my issues. I had a shot to the area new the Achilles and after 2 days, there's major improvement. Peppers said in a month on my follow-up I could return to get the plantar shot (its too early right now). So my gut was right about Dr. Acevedo. He's just not good at what he does. The 1 star is because he gave a cortisone shot for the pain. He isn't a good doctor and doesn't read his own damn clinical. In 2021, I went to him with plantar fasciitis (I don't remember which foot) but also told him about shoot pain on the top and side of my foot. After x-rays, he diagnosed me with PTTD posterior tibial tartan dysfunction. He put me in a boot to see immobilize and allow my tendons to heal. I said I had some pronation can aggravate the area and lead to pain. He suggested orthotics as well...Sure Feet and Pure Strides. I still have the paperwork showing his handwritten notes. Fast forward to 2024, after a fall and surgery (same practice different doctor as it was an emergency) in August 2023, the nonsurgical foot has been experiencing extreme pain from plantar fasciitis, likely because I had to use this foot for weight as my other foot was non-weight bearing for a month. I doing the exercises, ice and heat practically everyday, I finally had a enough. I see the doctor to get a cortisone shot for relief. He sarcasm is nauseating. He demeans my me saying my dry heel is soaking up all the gel. He doesn't address the left pain (same as the pain in 2021) since it had surgery, like because I had to see another doctor (again it was an emergency and he wasn't available). I asked about the orthotics he suggested before and he says you don't need orthotics. Confused, I said, "that's not what you told me before." He repeats that I don't have pronation without even examining me but I guess I look of confusion made him say, let me at least fake an examination. He has me stand. Again reports that I don't have pronation. Then he has me walk and then he changes his mind and says "you have a little pronation but nothing major." What the hell kind of of doctor's speak is that? Do you speak a patient to trust to words coming out of your mouth. When I again mention the pain on the top and side of foot (unrelated to the surgery of my 5th metatarsal), he says sarcastically, "you had major trauma and surgery to this foot, right? So obviously you're going to have pain and stiffness. I never complained about the stiffness idiot. I complained about the sharp pain on the top of my foot. He said you can get SureFeet Green (high arch). Y'all I don't have a high arch AT ALL. This is one of the worse doctor experiences I've had. I'm way over done with the physicians at Southeast Orthopedics and the sloppy, lazy and poor mannered physicians at this establishment. Of course, they won't care. I'm just waring future patients against using Dr. Jorge Acevedo. Try Dr. Arndt who did my surgery, if you must.
Dr. Acevedo is the best. His bedside manner is second to none. He listens, spends time explaining conditions. After seeing several doctors, and not having a proper diagnosis, he was able to accurately diagnose and treat my foot issues. Through conservative treatment, I have been able to begin exercising once again. Highly Recommend to all!
