We had a very scary visit to the pediatric ER when our toddler developed croup secondary to COVID, and Dr. Hartwig was absolutely wonderful. From the moment he walked in, he was calm, kind, and incredibly reassuring—exactly what both a sick child and stressed parents need. Dr. Hartwig took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions without ever making us feel rushed, and treated our son with so much patience and compassion. He was also especially understanding and empathetic knowing that I was sick with COVID at the same time, which meant more to us than he probably realized in that moment. His bedside manner was warm and genuine, and you could tell he truly cares about kids and families—not just the medical side of things. Thanks to his excellent care, we left feeling informed, confident, and much more at ease. We are so grateful for Dr. Hartwig and would trust him again without hesitation. My daughter, who was understandably scared, was comforted and handled with true compassion. As a parent, that meant everything to me. I am so grateful for his expertise, calm demeanor, and genuine care. Dr. Hartwig is one of the most intelligent and skilled physicians I have encountered in a pediatric emergency room. He is extremely thorough while still being conservative to not do unnecessary tests or procedures - no mama wants to do unnecessary things to their child "just because." I appreciate that he is clear and straight to the point, exactly the type of doctor I would want caring for my son in any sort of emergency situation!!
