Dr. Dawn Duss

My son was a JIA patient with Dr. Duss for 8 years. At his last check up, we arrived 11 minutes late and despite calling regarding traffic, when we arrived we were told we had to reschedule for over a month out. We were then pushed a paid membership for ‘more accommodating scheduling’. Knowing we could not wait because of the risks of uveitis in JIA patients, we moved our care to Nemours. We are now dealing with a significant flare of uveitis in his right eye and a setback in his care that could have been avoided. We followed her practice when it went from the Beach to Riverside, but the level of care declined significantly over the years. To say we are disappointed as we deal with these repercussions is an understatement.

I take three of my children here and have for the past 5 years and we absolutely love Dr. Duss. She is hands down the best Pediatric Opthalmologist around and she creates a fun, happy, calm environment that really helps make the appointments run smoothly. My three year old even is able to do his appointment without a fight or struggle because of how smoothly things run. They offer snacks after they put in the drops and there are a lot of things for the kids to do while they wait for their pupils to dilate. The office is incredibly clean and comfortable. You can check in and pay copays online beforehand and the staff from the front desk, to the assistants and even the building security guards are extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Duss is very direct and kind. She makes sure to include the children in the discussion so they are aware of the importance of taking care of their eyes and their glasses. She always listens carefully and answers all our questions. She can see babies from birth so if you have a concern at any age don't delay and make sure to reach out to her when you notice an issue. About the only negative is the wait list for an appointment can be long, but ask to be put on a cancellation list.

Dr. Dawn Duss was on time and performed an exceptionally thorough refractive eye exam. I felt well cared for and never rushed. She had also performed surgery for double vision a month prior to this visit. Amazing doctor with endless energy.
