Absolutely horrible experience. I felt rushed through the entire appointment and, most concerning to me, I did not feel that the neurologist took the time to properly review the medical records I brought with me. I had a massive Type A aortic dissection in February that resulted in complete occlusion of my right internal carotid artery and significant neurological concerns during the emergency. My surgical records document limited neurological function at the time, and my family was warned about the possibility of a severe neurological outcome. I brought these records because I am now experiencing visual and neurological symptoms, including persistent blurry vision, light sensitivity, dizziness, and intermittent double vision. I also brought my recent brain MRI report, which documents right-sided periventricular and subcortical white-matter abnormalities described as “greater than expected for age.” The report also lists “sequela of prior insult” as one of the possible explanations. I wanted to understand whether these findings could potentially relate to my symptoms given everything that happened during my dissection. At one point, I specifically asked the neurologist if she had actually looked at my MRI images. She told me no and explained that she was only looking at what was written in the MRI report. However, she appeared to have overlooked the report's statement that the white-matter abnormalities were greater than expected for someone my age. She also did not appear to address the report's mention of “sequela of prior insult.” Instead, I felt that my concerns were dismissed without a thorough review of my history, records, or imaging. I was told that the MRI findings were essentially related to aging and vascular risk factors, despite my age and the specific wording of the radiologist's report. I was also told that my visual symptoms were likely related to Keppra without what felt like an adequate discussion of other possible causes. I understand that a neurologist may ultimately determine that the MRI findings are unrelated to my symptoms. What frustrated me was feeling that this conclusion was reached without adequately reviewing the information I brought to the appointment. Overall, I left feeling dismissed, rushed, and unheard. After surviving such a serious cardiovascular and neurological emergency, I expected a much more thorough evaluation and discussion of my concerns. I would not recommend this experience to someone looking for a neurologist who will take the time to carefully review a complicated medical history.
Absolutely atrocious care. I paid 115 dollars and was seen for 7 minutes. Dr went on vacation for 3 weeks and never followed up with me to check in or ask how my medication was going. Never made an attempt to retrieve my MRI scans. Run for the hills. When I called back for a refill because I was in excruciating pain, I was told I’d need to come in again. What? For another 5 minute interaction? When you did nothing to investigate my symptoms the first time?Jacksonville is further but worth it. Do not waste your money on a dr who clearly doesn’t care about anything more than getting money out of your pocket. I never make reviews like this, I’m in customer service and on principal actually hate google reviews because I feel like a keyboard warrior. This practice deserves to fail. End of story. Edit: went to urgent care at UF down the road because I was in agony (I have trigen neuralgia) and they were appalled at my treatment, my medication got refilled immediately, and they apologized that I had a Dr like M Perumal. They wrote me another referral and also suggested I try in the Jacksonville area. Said it was terrible that the only medication that was easing my pain to me was denied. (It was only nabumetone, so nothing crazy like opioids by the way) I HIGHLY recommend the UF urgent care down the road as a local of 12 years I will be telling absolutely everyone not to come to this practice.
I’m extremely disappointed with the experience I just went through. After a full week of back‑and‑forth between my primary care provider and Dr. Amudha Perumal’s office, the referral was finally received. However, instead of moving forward, Dr. Amudha Perumal’s office sent the referral back to my primary simply because I live in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s frustrating to spend so much time coordinating paperwork only to be told they are not willing to accept a patient based on location. This caused unnecessary delays in my care and added stress to an already difficult situation. I truly hope the office improves its communication and referral handling so other patients don’t face the same inconvenience.
Never go here she falsifies documents says she checks you and doesn't, claims she has seen you when she talks to you on the phone and everything is epilepsy when you never have had it .She literally cuts you off when you are trying to tell her what is going wrong with you. She wants you to take meds that you don't even need. Go anywhere else. Would have chosen a zero star but they require you to leave one. Her cognitive test is to ask you to remember 3 words and doesnt care that you didnt remember them.
The gatekeeper at the office is uncaring and malicious....my partner was left without epilepsy medication that he takes twice a day...it was her decision and she declined for me to speak to the doctor....this office is absolutely appalling
