Dealing with DHI Mortgage was a horrible experience. The Lending Officer that I first dealt with was incompetent, lacking attention to detail and basic grammar skills in email communications. Then, dealing with the 'Underwriters' was even more challenging. As someone who works in the industry, it was mind-blowing how incompetent their underwriters were. For example: I submitted a Month End January bank statement and a complete collection of MTD February bank screenshots. The 'Underwriters' were unable to make 1 mathematical equation in order to reconcile the balance from Month End January to the first charge taken from my bank in February (which shows a new account balance with the charge). I had to coach my poor Closer through a 2nd grade math problem in order to subtract the first February charge from the January Ending Balance in order to reveal the new balance from the screenshots previously mentioned. Another example: Their 'underwriters' were unable to grasp the concept of a Borrower vs. an Owner, which I thought was common knowledge amongst anyone in the mortgage industry, boy was I wrong. I wish I would have read these reviews prior to starting this whole process, would have saved me lots of time and stress.
As a realtor, working with DR Horton was a great experience! Huge shoutout to Gislaine Possamai Della for assisting my clients with their new construction home purchases. She made the mortgage process much smoother and ensured potential issues were addressed early with proper preparation. Thank you, Gislaine and the DR Horton team! Please avoid them, don't trust them, they don't really know the business they are trying to run. They'll tell you everything is fine and then all the sudden you're homeless. We're still waiting for my $1000 back. Real testimony. The level of service my husband and I received from DHI mortgage was totally bad. Their staff is awfully inexperienced, their integrity was lacking and their overall concern for the final result was fictitious, I felt that I was playing a children's game. If you want to feel horribly exhausted and devastated, go to work with them, the will have lots of surprises for you the day before closing. They postponed our closing date three times!. DHI mortgage has handled every document we’ve given them inaccurate. If there is any inconvenient as soon as they find out, habitually due to their actions, all of their staff runs to hide and avoid the difficulty and they will try to blame you for they wrong procedures and lack of attention... Don't waste your time.
Do NOT use DHI Mortgage for your lender. They were the ABSOLUTE WORST. They sent the wrong appraiser for my first property. They never took ownership of their mistake. They denied my loan and caused my closing costs and interest rate to increase. And never explained to me what the problem was. Stay away from them.
I’m a realtor here in Jacksonville. I have worked with hundreds of lenders... some are better then others. DHI is at the bottom of my list. I would rather refer my customers to QUICKEN loans then risk leaving my customers debates devastated the day before closing. This organization has handled almost every file I’ve given them carelessly. You won’t hear from your loan officer ever until there is an emergency. If your lucky you might be able to communicate with someone because as soon as the smallest troubles arise, usually due to their actions, all of their staff runs to hide and avoid the dilemma. I went as far to attempt to purchase my own home from DR HORTON. The level of service I personally received from DHI mortgage was sub par at best. Their staff is inexperienced and in my dealings with them their communication was poor, their integrity was lacking and their overall concern for the final result was non-existent. The only benefit you receive working with DHI MORTGAGE when buying from DR HORTON is your closing costs paid. If you can get the closing costs paid elsewhere, I’d advise you to seek financing options through an outside party.... my wife and I have been Realtors for combined 20+ years... hands down....WORST LENDER YOU CAN USE.
