De Leon Latin Cocina — A Latin Soul That Speaks Without Translation There are restaurants that serve food, and then there are places that serve *memory*. De Leon Latin Cocina falls firmly into the second category. I came in as the vegetarian at a table full of carnivores — and I never once felt like I was missing out. The spread across our table told the full story of Latin abundance: tostones arriving golden and perfectly smashed, served alongside a fresh tomato salsa that had no business tasting that vibrant. The avocado, sliced and fanned out with quiet elegance, was the kind of side that reminds you simplicity done right is its own flex. The bowl — rice, beans, egg, arepa — was grounding in the way only real cocina can be. Every component earned its place. But the drinks. The *drinks.* The agua fresca was the kind of thing you order once and spend the rest of the meal protecting from everyone else at the table. Cold, fresh, not over-sweetened — it tasted like someone's abuela made it that morning and meant it. Service matched the warmth of the food. Atmosphere felt alive without being loud. The whole experience carried that unmistakable feeling of a kitchen that actually cares. De Leon Latin Cocina is the real thing. Five stars across the board, no asterisks.
Heidi and Alejandra are absolutely amazing! They were so kind and attentive, making my birthday such a beautiful experience. They took great care of me and my family from start to finish. The food is incredible — everything tastes so fresh and full of authentic Colombian flavors. It truly feels like a piece of Colombia right here in St. Augustine. Definitely a must-visit spot when you’re in town!
I went with a few friends, and I was seated real fast and they took care of me. The only reason I didn’t give the waitress a five star is because Denver never asked me if I needed water or if I needed anything else. Other than that, it was amazing and if you’re a veteran they give you a discount. The food is so delicious. It’s worth every penny you spend on it. Big portions.
Food was awesome tasting! You can tell this is a small family run business, and all the employees take this restaurant seriously. The chefs in the back, and servers up front are incredible. I highly recommend the Colombian dishes they have here!! Chicharon, ropa vieja, coconut shrimp, and tres leches was out of this world. Everything was hot, fresh, and authentically made. Do not be fooled by the hotel location. The food is no joke.
This place is amazing!!!! Guys Gregorio and the the team have a great customer service. This food, what can I said ! Delicious, the flavor amazing. We got bandeja paisa, shrimp cocktail with tostones , and coconut shrimp. They are inside the Hotel, we didn’t know about it, and are happy that we could enjoy it! Thanks guys! Food was amazing and the same for your services.
