Holy smokes, true believers! It’s been a minute since I posted as myself. About eight years, but who’s counting? Over that time I’ve been in Jacksonville, living something just shy of a fantasy campaign, and Darby’s Dungeon has been the critical hit. This place is pure paradise for gamers. Darby herself feels like innovation given human form, backed by a dynamic staff, an inclusive venue, diverse games, and a real, living community. Not just tables and cards, but people. And she gives back. Tuesdays bring free table fees. Wednesdays bring prize giveaways through the Companion App. So come in out of the cold. Grab your favorite cup or bottle. Roll some dice, sling some spells, tap some mana. Fun is on the house, vibes are mandatory. Diversity. Inclusive. Community-driven. This is how you build a dungeon worth adventuring in.
Chris had a lot of energy and was a great help while me and my friend were looking around! Purchased some dice and the Batman who Laughs game for my little sister, great prices and great people! The atmosphere in this place is amazing and if I didn’t live all the way in Tampa, I’d find myself here every night!
Incredibly friendly staff and welcoming vibe. Really nice game selection. An affordable gameplay options. Their system of our game up front, copy to buy behind, on every shelf is very interesting would definitely recommend checking it out.
You can truly tell that a lot of care and thought went into this place. The decorations are creative, the atmosphere is fun, and there are great games available to play. We have visited multiple times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. That being said, our experience tonight was very disappointing. I completely understand and respect the policy regarding no outside food or drinks. However, when your drink machines are down there should be some flexibility (especially for something simple like coffee or hot chocolate). Several members of our group had already purchased soda and beer, and we fully intended to continue spending money throughout the evening. What ultimately led us to leave was the way we were treated. The employee, Tripp, spoke to us in a condescending and dismissive manner. Policies can be enforced respectfully but the attitude we encountered made us feel unwelcome. It’s difficult to justify spending money somewhere when you’re being spoken down to.
Darby's Dungeon is a must-see location, with a stunningly warm interior and equally kind staff that make you feel right at home in this little cut-out of nerd paradise. The staff do their absolute best to ensure that any guests are having a wonderful stay and, even when spread to their thinest, offer an experience unparalleled to other game and hobby stores. Any gripes I have would be that the store isn't fewer steps away from my home. Truly an experience I recommend to anyone with a few dollars and a free evening (or even just a free evening if you visit during their free community days!). My partner and I had a phenomenal time, enough so to visit a second time in the same 5 day vacation! I can't recommend Darby's enough; drop by, say hi, and have a wonderful time being a nerd!
