I am a regular patient at Coastal Health (San Pablo location), but their recent policy and billing practices are completely unacceptable. I have a well-documented condition on file with them resulting from a previous injury, and I only require a standard, non-controlled/non-narcotic prescription for muscle spasms on an as-needed basis when I'm in pain. I was just seen in their office twice last month—on begin of July /2026 also END of July 27th. Despite my established condition and recent visits, and even though I was previously offered to have the medication sent straight to my pharmacy on the visit of begin of July and I did say I wasn't in need for the moment....they are now, that I'm really in NEED refusing to release the prescription unless I schedule and pay for another office visit. What exactly are they going to diagnose in a new visit that isn't already in my medical record or covered in my last two appointments? Forcing an established patient with a known condition to pay for redundant appointments just to release a routine, non-narcotic refill feels like nothing more than a cash grab. It shows a total lack of consideration for patient care and convenience. Very disappointed.

I stayed with this practice for two years because I believed everyone deserves a second chance. Unfortunately, my experience became a repeated pattern of disappointment and poor treatment. I often felt dismissed and belittled, and felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. Eventually I moved on. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. There are far better primary care providers that treat their patients with professionalism and respect.
My experience was very positive from start to finish. I arrived early and was seen before my scheduled appointment time, which I really appreciated. The staff was helpful, professional, and took the time to answer my questions and concerns without making me feel rushed or dismissed. Dr Jordan Phelps was also extremely helpful and made me feel that my concerns were legitimate and important. He listened, treated me with respect, and provided referrals to additional facilities that may assist me in the future. Overall, I felt cared for, respected, and supported throughout the visit.
The best primary care I've ever been to. All the staff is incredible and Dr. Muenz clearly genuinely cares about his patients. When I go here I feel like I'm a person instead of just another patient.
I moved here from Indiana and was extremely anxious about seeing a new doctor, especially a male. From the very first visit, they treated me with nothing but kindness and respect. Dr. Muenz makes me feel heard. I knew I made the right choice with Coastal Health as soon as I walked through the door with how welcoming they are!
