  We used Clukey & Tebault Accounting Firm for the past four years. The first two years were fine, but the last two years were an absolute disaster. In 2025, the firm entered our bank account information incorrectly, which prevented the IRS from issuing our refund through direct deposit. Instead of receiving our refund electronically, we had to wait much longer for a paper check to arrive by mail because of their mistake. Unfortunately, 2026 was even worse. Their new system failed to upload several of our tax documents even though the portal showed they had been uploaded successfully. I had to resend documents through email. I also personally spoke with Verna to confirm that our bank account information for direct deposit was correct because of the prior year’s mistake. We electronically signed our tax return forms on March 10 and have confirmation records showing they were completed at that time. By April 9, we still had not received our refund, so we emailed Kenny at the firm asking about the status. On April 10, Kenny responded stating that their system showed the IRS had accepted our return and advised us to track the refund through the IRS website. However, when we created an IRS account, there was no record of our 2025 return at all. By April 20, the IRS still showed no return filed, so we called and spoke with Verna. She apologized and informed us that our return had never actually been released into the IRS system. We were shocked because Kenny had told us 10 days earlier that the IRS had already accepted it. Verna pushed the return through that same morning. To make matters worse, we later discovered that our bank account information had once again been entered incorrectly for the second year in a row. We ultimately had to spend time working with the IRS to correct mistakes made by our CPA firm. After all the delays and issues, we finally received our refund on May 7. The firm did refund our preparation fee, which was the least they could do considering how poorly this entire process was handled from start to finish. However, with the check was a letter terminating the relationship. So instead of apologizing they fired us.😂 Based on our experience, I would never recommend and will be having the clients we recommended drop Clukey & Tebault Accounting Firm.
