  25 March, 2026: I had an eye examination at Dr. Carvell & Associates resulting in a new prescription for lens. After a few weeks of ordering glasses at Davalt Optical (Excellent Business!) on West Bay Street in Jacksonville, in picking up the glasses, the vision in my left eye wasn't clear. It actually started to water. During the time of the examination, in the bottom of my stomach, I felt the eye examination was rushed. My concern came true. The prescription wasn't right in the left eye. In looking for a second optical opinion , a friend recommended Clay Eye in the Mandarin area. I had my examination today with Dr. Powell. He was great!!! The entire staff was very helpful. The front desk folks were less than energetic though. That was okay. It was early. Prior to being taken back for the exam, I had to fill out some paperwork. Once that was complete, the wait wasn't long at all before being called back for eye measuring prior to the examination. Shelby assisted and she was excellent in customer service, explaining all of the machines and their functions. Once the measurements were complete, I was taken to the examination room where I met Dr. Powell and his assistant. The examination wasn't rushed at all. I appreciate Dr. Powell's clarity and directness to explaining his findings. Very Confident which I respect!! After the examination was complete, I checkout and approached the optional eye wear department which is in the same room as the front end. This is where you decide to get your glasses from Clay or you have the option to pickup the prescription to go elsewhere. I would have ordered my glasses here but they don't deal with Zeiss Lens. I left feeling quite confident in my choice for Eye Care. I will be back next year. Thank you to all at Clay Eye Physicians & Surgeons!
