Bit too short, they should come & make circle back trails a few yards apart to give at least a mile woods walk here, that would be nice! Pretty red berry bushes and not too much road noise was lovely. Has some exercise stations set up to use. Heard hawks and other birds Visual signs of wild boars. Signs explaining the trees need scrubbing so you can actually see/read them. Boardwalk parts are really nice & one has little bench to sit & enjoy nature sounds. I’ll come back to walk my dog here when I’m short on time for hikes and just need a quick 10 min nature walk-fix.
I love this trail because it’s not crowded and I can bring my dog without her getting overly excited about people. There’s always trash (food wrappers, clothes and beer cans) though. Occasionally they clean it. Even with just that I would rate it 3.5-4. Today while walking I found a razor blade on the ground kinda covered in dirt. I’ve heard rumors of homeless sleeping/ hanging out there but never seen it and who am i to judge. Finding what’s most likely drug paraphernalia though where it could cut a child or animal bugs me.
The 6th annual Watermelon Festival was fun and successful! MANY vendors, clean, allot of great food!
I really hate giving bad reviews. I had such high hopes for this trail, but do not recommend. The trail has people hanging out on it, charging cell phones and doing who knows what else. They looked like they were living in the woods nearby. I did not feel safe and would never recommend going alone. It is a short trail that dead ends and you have to double back to get to the entrance. There is a very small parking area. It has a lot of potential and I really hope the city can make it great, but right now it is not.
This is a great little trail with a nice clear path to walk. Park at the entrance, it doesn't seem there's an official parking area. Lots of ecodiversity. Great spot for bird watching and casual walking amongst giant trees. Large oaks, some swampy areas that have bridged walk ways. This place is very alive. Look out for spiders and snakes.
