In 1969 myself and 3 of my Siblings were Taken away by the State. Good Call! Our Parents were Both Alcoholics and Couldn't keep a job to support all of us kids! Ages 4, 5, 6, & 9. The Children's home on Sandiago Rd. Jax., FL is the ONLY Place that made us Feel Safe & Loved!!! We were all Split up 2 & 2. I was the youngest girl & the youngest Bother went with me to Foster homes. 28 Foster homes in 2 Years!! Then place back with our older Brother & Sister at their Foster home. We were all 4 adopted by them. We were returned to the Orphanage a short time later because there was Sexual Abuse going on!! But to us 4 we were Safe Again! The Maids at the Orphanage Ms. Lilly and Ms. Lillian were Truly Special Ladies! They cared & Loved All of us in the Orphanage!!! I have Returned over the years to Visit them as I was growing up, and they ALWAYS REMEMBER ME & MY SIBLINGS! MS. Fachette & Ms. Roeny were our Case Managers. I still live locally, and drive by on occasions when I'm on that side of Town.....My Fondest Years!

I was adopted through them back in 1965. My court records are sealed and if I want to find anything about my biological parents or family I was told years ago by CHS that I would have to pay $500 an hour for them to use or hire their investigators. What gets me is that they hold all my records...so why do I have to pay $500 an hour to investigate my adoption?
Complete government overreach. I wasn’t even notified that my daughter was receiving “therapy” through her school, until they got out of school for summer. The “therapist” who is still in training insisted that she have acces to my child, even while school is out. Call me crazy, but I don’t parent with the government/government agencies. Needless to say I am not happy about this. I, as her mother, should’ve been notified if she was receiving “services”.
If i could give zero stars i would. I used children Home Society when placing my daughter in 1991. I was young and at the time my case worker was great, but then she left. I was supposed to have a open adoption and family was to send pictures and agreed to keep in touch. I received pictures up until my daughter was 7 and everything stopped. I have never moved without updating my information with agency. The family moved and never told the agency where they went. That's all fine and dandy, but i have called for years trying to get Children Home Society to help locate them. They now want me to pay to find her. I shouldn't have to pay because it waa supposed to be a open adoption and they have all information on myself and the family. Why should i have to pay for them to find the family when i could do it if i had a last name. They have everything, not only did they do me wrong by allowing the family to move without giving them their address, now I feel like they are ripping me off for money to find her.
The Children's Home Society of Jacksonville sold me to my adopted parents many years ago. When I turned 18 I went to try and get my information and background so I could know my identity. They told me my grandmother had kept her address up to date in my file for all those years. But they wouldn't help me get in contact until I paid them a "research fee" of $500. Even though no research was needed.... You read this correctly, they extort the now adult adoptees for money, just to get in touch with biological relatives that already want to be in touch. Buying and selling babies is human trafficking. Please don't give your babies to this horrible agency, because all they do is sell them to the highest bidder and then extort them when they want to get in touch with their real family. Furthermore, this agency does not require prospective adoptive parents to have any type of psychological evaluation. They just require a home study and credit check. So any rich infertile person can buy a baby from them no matter their psychological state. My adopted home was highly abusive. The Children's Home Society of Jacksonville sold me to my abuser.
