As people say, if I could give zero stars, I would. I considered suing these guys but decided it was not worth my time and trouble. From my perspective, they misrepresented their services to me. IE ran a bunch of seminars showing John Hyre as being part of their team, and then John left, even though that was the only reason I came to Checkmate. Never got a single service from them and in the end I was out $10,000 with zero to show for it. I would strongly suggest you read their contacts carefully. Do you know that you're not allowed to sue them in small claims court? Might wanna check into that and ask why. I wouldn't hire these guys if they were the last tax advisors on earth.
We’re very happy with the tax advice we’re getting with Checkmate! I loved dumping out situation and having Checkmate sort through it for us and set a plan for us!! Talking to James. Every month is very helpful and keeps me accountable for doing the paperwork that I dread. I would definitely recommend Checkmate others who have small businesses and/or complicated and interesting finances.
We thought “ROBS” was just the name of a guy who took our lunch in middle school—turns out, it’s a retirement structure, and Checkmate knows it like the back of a 1099! These tax wizards took our companies, Fortress Financial and Permit Busters from “kinda winging it” to “legit business empire” status. They didn’t just help us structure our companies, they basically gave our finances the blow-up of the decade. We came for tax help. We stayed for the strategy, the laughs, and the oddly comforting feeling that we might actually understand the IRS now. At one point, we thought we’d have to summon a priest and perform an exorcism on our books but Checkmate handled it with a spreadsheet and a smile.

They’ve guided me step by step through the entire process — from understanding where everything should go to setting up smart strategies around my accounts and businesses.
