Calhoun & Atwood, CPA

I've withheld writing this review for a full year until we filed another years worth of Personal & Business tax returns to make any judgment against Calhoun & Atwood for numerous reasons. For years my wife & I have utilized another local tax professional and decided to try Calhoun & Atwood in 2025 for 2024s Taxes, both Business & Personal. When we first met with Jill she came off very condescending regarding how I run and manage my business which I’ve dedicated years of my life to since I was 18. Red Flag #1. We then sent her our W2s and business info for our returns. Her and her office simply log into Quickbooks and transfer over statements and expenses. Red Flag #2. This is where the first issue came up. Immediately after they logged into their quickbooks account, connected our bank accounts and gained our SS numbers, we began dealing with an insane amount of Business Fraud. Our business account info had been compromised and I spent a year dealing with dozens of fraudulent bank accounts, credit cards and even one case of stolen physical property from a commercial business in Jacksonville. I spent days working with local banks, on the phone with credit card companies and even the St. Johns County & Jacksonville Sheriffs offices. They were all able to determine that around the same time period as when we gave our personal info and bank account info to C&A CPAs a security breach occurred and the IP address was even tracked right down to the same Zip Code this business is located in. (Our home address is not in the same Zip as C&A CPA) We have NO proof their system is what caused this, BUT both Law Enforcement agencies and the bank fraud team agreed that their system of using quickbooks and connecting to our banks accounts compromised us and caused it. I spent months dealing with this throughout 2025. Again, we have no proof C&A CPA is what caused this security breach but it is very hard to imagine just days after sending them our bank login info, home address, social security numbers, business account & routing numbers that we start dealing with months of continual fraud that lasted the remainder of 2025. Then it came time for the filing, her fees were astronomical for simply connecting to quickbooks. Red Flag #3. Over $1400 for her office to file for us, and we ended up owning the IRS just shy of $5,000… To put this into perspective our income increased in 2025 and we have just filed back with our prior tax professional. His fees to file for us were half the cost, and we also owed half as much to the IRS. I spent a full year to waiting to write this review and it is my first ever 1-Star review on Google. If you want to owe twice as much to the IRS, spend an insane amount of money to be belittled by your tax ‘Professional’ on how to run a small business and potentially have your SS # compromised and deal with months worth of fraud, Calhoun & Atwood is the place for you. If you want to save as much money as possible during tax season & keep your personal info safe use someone else…
