I visited Blue Jay Listening Room for the first time tonight as an early birthday gift for my mom, and it was an unforgettable experience. We came to see Dan Rodriguez, and he was absolutely incredible. His performance was heartfelt, engaging, funny, and full of charisma. Most importantly, his music was outstanding and left a lasting impression on both of us. The venue itself is truly special. The atmosphere is intimate, welcoming, and honestly a little magical. The staff was exceptional, friendly, attentive, and genuinely contributed to making the evening so enjoyable. From the artist to the venue to the overall experience, everything exceeded expectations. I highly recommend Blue Jay Listening Room and can’t wait to return.
Wonderful atmosphere to enjoy music. A fun selection of seating from comfortable chairs to love-seats that create an intimate setting with the performers. Staff were kind, team oriented, and took ownership of the establishment; it’s clear they care. Cocktails were on the pricey side but well crafted. I don’t believe food was offered.
A space that defines what is possible for music venues. Imagine a small room, dedicated to the experiencing music with intention. Both guests & artists help create the magic of Blue Jay…while the crew nurture both in this sacred space of earth. Its unlike anything other: place you can go, thing you will do, song you will hear. So Go solo, go together, go spontaneously, go later…just go & listen.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blue Jay Listening Room is hands down our favorite place to hear live music in Jacksonville. My husband and I have traveled all over the world together and have been fortunate enough to experience concerts in incredible venues, from massive arenas to iconic music halls. And yet, some of the most talented artists we've ever heard have been right here on this intimate little stage. What makes Blue Jay so special is that it's a true listening room. That distinction matters. This isn't a bar where people are shouting over the music or TVs are competing for your attention. Here, the music is the reason everyone came. You actually listen. You hear the stories behind the songs, watch incredible musicians share their craft, and experience a genuine connection between artist and audience. It's intimate, authentic, and honestly feels a little sacred. The space itself is just as beautiful as the music. Knowing that Cara created Blue Jay in honor of her grandmother, whose memory is symbolized by the blue jay, makes the entire experience even more meaningful. You can feel the love, intention, and heart that went into creating this place. In a world that feels increasingly loud and distracted, places like Blue Jay are becoming rare. Listening rooms preserve something incredibly important—not just live music, but the human connection that comes with it. They give artists the respect they deserve and audiences the chance to truly experience the music instead of simply having it play in the background. If we want places like this to exist for future generations, we have to support them. Small businesses like Blue Jay don't just happen—they survive because people choose to show up, buy a ticket, bring a friend, and value what they're creating. If you love music—not just hearing it, but feeling it—do yourself a favor and spend an evening at Blue Jay Listening Room. You'll leave with a full heart, a few new favorite artists, and a reminder of why live music matters so much. We can't recommend it highly enough.
My wife and I were excited to see our favorite band at this venue, but a few days before the show she injured her foot. Since we had standing-room-only tickets, I tried to contact the venue to see if there was any seating available. I sent a message through the website, left a voicemail, and called several more times. I never received a response, and the voicemail box eventually became full. Because we couldn’t reach anyone, my wife stayed home while I made the two-hour drive alone. When I arrived, I found open seats at the bar and was told by the bartender they weren’t reserved and anyone could sit there. It was incredibly disappointing to realize my wife missed her favorite band because we couldn’t get a simple answer before the show. A quick response from the venue would have made all the difference. The owner would like “future readers to know that we discussed this situation together at the venue and worked toward a solution which included a full refund on-site”. This is completely inaccurate. We did not work toward a solution at all. Instead she yelled, “I gave you a refund” as I left the venue. Everyone makes mistakes. Hopefully the owner will be better at responding to potential future customers so as not to receive further negative reviews.
