A great variety of trails, but be warned - they're not the pristine, well-kept hiking trails in most areas, especially the majority of the accessible frontside, but more thick sandy roads and then the long rocky stretch under the powerlines. If you are an avid hiker/walker, and get back to the far side (a few miles in depending on which route you take), there's creek views and more unique trails. Great place to hike with the dogs or ride with the horses.
For an out of towner, this was a great experience!! It was a new environment full of new sights, sounds, and smells. Did the 2.3 mile trail to Black creek. Easy. Lots of bugs, prepare for that. Saw a lot of critters!!!
Great open space area. Lots of trails for biking and hiking. Dogs allowed. Only downside when we went early October was that the sand spurs were so heinous and prolific my dog could barely walk without getting stuck and they were all over my clothes and shoes. We ended up cutting our trip short because if that but the other 6 times I've been out there it was great.
Nice walking trails, but uneven surfaces. This is because they are heavily used for horseback riding, and can be dangerous if you're not steady on your feet. Not recommended for strollers or wheelchairs. Two nice picnic areas, but they are located approximately 1 mile one way from the parking areas. Saw a deer today. Biking NOT allowed.
You'll find ample parking but light traffic even on weekends at on these delightful trails. Red and white trails can combine to create loops. All trails are well-marked and are relatively easy apart from some soft sand in short areas. A trail spur leads to a nice view of Black Creek and has a picnic bench to stop for lunch and relax. My combination of trails gave me about 5.5 miles of hiking, but there are plenty of other trails for fuller days.
