I'm writing this review to share my experience with Brittney from the Betty Griffin house. Although, I was fortunate enough to find an apartment before needing to enter the center. My experience in calling many... up to 50 different shelters for domestic abuse were for lack of a better word, disappointing. Until. I came along Britney. Not only did she take time to listen to my needs but she comforted me. Just tone and inflection put me at ease. I did not feel at any time embarrassed or nervous that I was going to be passed along to the next place. I was given different resources and very important information regarding the area I was going to be moving to. For an example, Brittney let me know about bus schedules ie they don't run on Sundays. This information is important to me, as I am a chef and weekends are an absolute must for most restaurants. This in the future could have opposed a problem for me. Letting me know up front gave me the opportunity to go out and get an electric bike that I will use at my new residence. That's just one example of information that means a lot for future, especially if you're looking to move to a new area. Thank you Tiffany for taking the time to listen to me and thank you Brittany for doing what you do every day. In Godspeed. Jessica and Madison
My favorite thrift store! They only take donations til I believe around noon ish. So you do need to drop off in morning. It is a lil inconvenient but the cause is so much better than dropping off at goodwill! And they price stuff more affordable than goodwill. People who are actually trying to make ends meet can afford to shop here unlike say goodwill. I have been able to fill my girls rooms and closets thanks to the deals they do here! Wednesday is half off kids and 10/$15 adults. Total steal!! And they also do half off toys randomly as well. 10/10 books and DVDs on certain days. I’m a thrifter and this place is def my favorite. Here’s a lil haul I got today- didn’t even break a $20!
This place is no help. You have to walk into this place coming from a physically abused home. In other words.. the only way these people are going help you on a serious note, is if you come in with a black eye and swollen face.. that is the only way you'll get help from these people. Other than that. They want to put you through programs teaching you about life. As if we don't already know what life is all about.
I've been to this store many times over the past couple years and it has grown so much in inventory and organization. The prices here are many times better than Goodwill with a lot more variety. (ex. books for $1, clothes from $1-$6, appliances for $20) I would love to buy used appliances here since some of them look new. I believe that most or all people who work there are volunteers and I've never had a bad experience. The store supports a great cause and are staffed by kind people.
We came here because we heard that this thrift store is better than goodwill. we had about 4 bags of donations and brought them to the front desk, we were not even greeted, we had to ask the front desk employee if she worked there, and gave her the bags when she replied with a yes. she looked at us with this horrible look as if we just committed a crime and took the bags and set it aside, she then told us that “donations go to the back”not even a thank you, she did not show any appreciation what so ever. i believe that as a place that runs strictly off of donations, they should at least be kind to the people that do donate. after she kept bringing up the fact that we should have gone to the back to donate and that she’s so busy ( when she was really just flipping through pins and buttons) we decided to let her know that she should be kind to the people the donate. even when we said that she wouldn’t stop barking at us, the assistant manager was very kind and told her to stop and she explained that there is a place at the back to donate but she said it was no problem to donate here. i do not recommend donating here because customer service is 1/10. the only reason i rated this 2 stars was because of the assistant manager.
