My roommate physically attacked me & I was kicked out for defending myself! I was told I should’ve told someone first. My caseworker Emily was lazy & always on vacation! Devin is a sweetheart though! She made sure I made it safely to my destination when I left the shelter. Bring your own food, theirs is old rotten & moldy! would not recommend
Furniture picked up this morning. Anthony and Hawk were considerate, careful and efficient. Kudos to both of them, I am very grateful for their professionalism! BG House is the best!
I reached out to this center seeking safety from a bad situation at home and spoke with extremely unprofessional staff. After an initial call with a kind staff member, I was later 'interrogated' by another employee who was very dismissive and cold. When I tried to explain my crisis, she met me with judgmental silence that was incredibly difficult to talk through without feeling judged. I was told by this woman that I needed a 'formal invitation' to the shelter, which is an absurd barrier to place on someone in a domestic violence situation. After seeing other reviews about theft, poor facility conditions, and the staff's lack of empathy toward people, I am glad I didn't end up here. If you are looking for a place that respects you and treats you with basic human dignity, look elsewhere.

Hi, I am writing this review from my son‘s profile, but my name is Ms. Woods this morning. I was totally devastated by the decisions that the staff at the Betty Griffin, Shelter Made pertaining to my belongings…. I have already had my stuff stolen by roommates while actively living in the shelter. I went out for one overnight and came back and they allow another resident to move out with not ensuring that they were not going through the other two Missing roommates the belongings . To find That all of my expensive hair products where stolen all of my notebooks with my children’s personal information and things that were really dear to me… When I came to the betty Griffin center, the only thing I owned to my name due to having to leave everything at my abuses house was lost…🥲🥲🥲 I am a resident of Georgia so upon my exiting, we were having transportation But by LAW, the Shelter is supposed to hold your belongings at least 30 days. I spoke to someone. Over the weekend and informed them that I would be coming for my belongings and they said they still have them…. I had a $285 pair of brand new Jordans that was special addition for Valentine’s Day. I had not wore my shoes two times. They were stolen by the staff. The residence did not do this. I also had a very expensive back, massager that I pacifically called in earlier that month to make sure that my items were in my belongings I have had the same flip-flops on since the day I left the shelter because everything I owned that had any type of value was there with me. I no longer have any clothes shoes, and I have also lost all of my kids information to the point, I cannot even enroll my children…. When I called and spoke to the staff, they were so unprofessional and very nasty. I was told in a very blunt short statement. All of your stuff has been thrown away. It’s not our responsibility to hold onto your stuff because we have other clients also……. That was all I owned to my name🥲🥲I have officially lost everything. I only did not return to the shelter because I end up getting chased by my abuser while at my mother’s house….. I could not run because he was stalking me and I did not want to be followed back from Jacksonville to the shelter… I know for a fact, it was the staff that stole my items because earlier in the month when I called I was told that they had these things with my belongs….. that’s bad when a place that you are supposed to be safe at is just as unsafe as being out in the world. The Shelter is nothing but a big halfway house for drug addicts and the mental health. Everybody should not be mixed together because it is very hard to deal with people who leave out for three days at a time doing drugs come back just to steal from the other residence. It’s almost as if they are condoning in the drug usage. It was so much unhealthy things going on in this shelter that it’s ridiculous like the state really needs to be called….
