This is an absolute gem of a park that I cannot recommend enough. The only problem is there is a decent amount of litter in and around the lake.
Nestled in the heart of Jacksonville, Lake Bethesda is a true local gem, providing a serene escape for all. It's a fantastic spot for picnics, with ample tables scattered throughout, and you'll often see couples and families with children enjoying a day of fishing or a peaceful stroll. > On the left side of the entrance, a picturesque wooden trail winds its way to a charming hut, complete with a table – a lovely, secluded spot to relax. Kayakers will appreciate the easily accessible launch pad right by the entrance. If you head to the right, a wooden track transitions into a natural, unpaved path that encircles a good portion of the lake. While this scenic loop doesn't fully connect, making it an out-and-back journey of over a mile, it's a worthwhile walk. We visited right after a rainfall, and due to its sandy composition and gentle incline towards the lake, the path remained remarkably dry. Be prepared for some adorable company: the resident ducks are incredibly friendly and might just follow you all the way to your car! They'd surely appreciate any bread you might have on hand.
Cool little park with cabins and a fishing lake. The lake has a nice dock system and easy access for launching a kayak or fishing from shore. The trails were over grown and had a good bit of trash around. Overall a 3 out of 5 but it could definitely be better!
Bethesda Park was a very nice, quiet, relaxing place for the family. We booked all four cabins on a Fri-Mon. Perfect spot to unplug but still in the middle of a city. Easy access to local grocery stores, etc. The cabins are great! It meets basic needs (bathroom, bunk beds (sleeps 4), stove & fridge) not equipped with kitchen utensils or linens. Shared attached back patios for each paired cabins. All the cabins does have a heating & air window unit. There are also a grill in front of every cabin. Choose Cabin 3 & 4 if you want the lake view. Hope this helps. I was searching for these details as I was looking into booking the cabins, but found very few posts and pics of this place. The person that works in the office is also very pleasant and helpful, she gave me a lot of information beforehand. There is a hiking trail around the lake, you may want to have proper shoes for this hike, it’s not a bad hike just probably more comfortable if you have the proper footwear to do it in. Overall it was a very beautiful place to spend some quiet time with the family. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
🎣 Fishing Expedition at Bethesda Park! 🌿 Had an awesome time fishing at Bethesda Park today! The lake was calm, the weather was perfect, and the bites were steady. Caught [insert type of fish you caught, if any — bass, bluegill, catfish, etc.] and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. The park is well-kept with plenty of spots to cast a line, whether you’re fishing from shore or bringing a small boat. Great for families, solo anglers, or anyone looking to unwind by the water. Definitely recommend bringing some snacks, sunscreen, and of course, good bait — thanks to B&M Bait and Tackle for setting me up right! Can’t wait to come back. 🎣
