Many people at Beth Israel were very warm and welcoming to us. The music was beautiful. Many things were read in Hebrew. Many things were sung in Hebrew, sometimes in English. The actual reading of Torah wasn’t very long, however. It felt similar to a Christian church sermon. Afterwards, the folks at Beth Israel were very generous and asked us to stay to a meal in the annex. Many people stayed, but we realized the hot pizzas and salads had been ordered (purchased), and certain people from the congregation were serving us (working), which didn’t seem right to us because it was the Sabbath. (No buying or selling on the Sabbath - Nehemiah 10, Jeremiah 17) During our conversation with several folks over the food, we realized that they (people in leadership at the synagogue) were fine with working on Yahweh’s Sabbath (Friday night - Saturday night), they were also fine with having other people work for them on the Sabbath, and with buying on the Sabbath, and with selling on the Sabbath. Which goes directly against Yahweh’s 4th commandment. (Exodus 20) They were extremely warm and welcoming people, however, the most important command is to love Yahweh with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. (Deuteronomy 6) This would include honoring His set apart day and trusting Him by obeying the rest He commands us to take on the Seventh day: no working, no having others work for you, not buying, and no selling. I cannot speak for the entire congregation, but with those in leadership that we met and spoke with at Beth Israel - they were kind, but because of their lack of obedience to our loving Heavenly Father’s commandments, we will not be returning.
How blessed to see a messianic synagogue. I stumbled upon the Shabbat service on YouTube and absolutely loved it! You guys seem to have such a love for God and Yeshua His son. Your message was so encouraging and beautiful and so needed. I'm jealous, if I lived there I'd totally go every Saturday. God bless you all in Jesus name ❤️
We love it here. Wonderful and passionate people. Many different people with one heart and purpose. The leadership is humble and free. You don't get a sense of elitism here. I also love that they offer Hebrew classes and a Russian service for Russian speaking members. Lots of Hebrew liturgy and Hebrew worship lyrics. Great place to come and have a better understanding of the Bible and the life our Messiah led within its cultural context.
We visited Beth Israel 3x and on Passover. We had a great and blessed time with these brothers and sisters in the faith. The congregation and Rabbi David were very warm and welcoming to us. Rabbi David is a great Torah teacher and a humble servant of Adonai. Thank you Jessie, Cecilia, Steven and Beth for your kindness.😇 warmth/kindness.and love you
Beth Isreal is a beautiful messianic synagogue in Jacksonville Florida. I really enjoy the beautiful music of the very talented worship team. There are wonderful online Erev Shabbot services Friday evenings with Rabbi David Levin. Saturday Shabbot services are available both online and in the sanctuary. Rabbi David Levin is a very kind and knowledgeable Messianic Rabbi.
