Took my 14 week old puppy for his first beach trip. Stopped off on my way back from an out of town trip. This access is 4X4 recommended and I would listen. Sand is super soft and loose easy to get a car stuck. There is some free parking across A Street but is very limited.
Saint Augustine Beach Access —————————————————————————— It’s highly recommended to have a vehicle 4x4 to gain access to this place the sands are a little tricky, looks like a doggie friendly beach because I saw a bunch of dogs running around, however I’m not hundred percent sure, just heads up around a block or so you have a little public parking a well which free of charge and they have public restrooms, yay ———————————————-
Great time riding on the beach. I would warn those not familiar with driving in sand that it's not that simple to just have 4 wheel drive. Too low a clearance and your scraping sand. Tires too thin or pressure too high and you're digging in. There was one vehicle stuck on each trip we made. I do wish it was not a one way direction, but I guess it's needed for the not so good drivers in sand. Everyone was friendly. When parked, it was like watching a car show of 4x4's going by.
Not too busy but very windy when we visited. Hubby and I took a stroll and it was lovely. The sand isn't completely soft. There are a few rough areas with broken shells.
Saint Augustine Beach has pristine sugar-sand and deep blue waters. It is very wide and offers plenty of room to sunbathe, hang out, and swim. It is located close to the city of Saint Augustine which is definitely a must-visit location. The city is rich: full of history, culture, architecture, and beauty. Being founded in 1565 it bears many of the “First in the United States” like the oldest house and the oldest wooden school house. But there are also fantastic shops and restaurants that that are fun to walk around especially at night.
