Barbara Jean’s On The Water was great! It gave me that hole-in-the-wall kind of feeling. Like the build was older and has been there for a while reassuring you that the food is just as great! I ordered the Salmon Fillet and it didn’t disappoint. I was not over cooked and it was seasoned to perfection. I complimented the salmon with Red Beans & Rice and the Broccoli & Rice Casserole. I would recommended both sides but I wanted to note that the Broccoli & Rice Casserole was legit! It was not broccoli covered in cheese sauce. It was definitely a casserole with cooked to perfection broccoli and real cheese! Thank you to Barbara Jean’s On The Water for making our food visit to Jacksonville great!!!
My wife and I went for an early dinner. I haven’t been in close to 20 years. The food back then was literally to die for, mouth watering savory. Well… I can confidently say things haven’t changed. Holy mother, the food was so good I almost cried. We had the pot roast and the turkey dinners. From start to finish every bite was amazing and we had leftovers that heated up possibly even better. If I could afford to come up here and eat every single day I would. Highly recommend to anyone in the vicinity.
Justin was our server and he was great! He suggested menu items and was very knowledgeable about all the items. We were 1st time diners and had a fantastic experience. The chicken fried steak was chewy but still gave 5 stars because the pot roast (my moms order) was really good and all my side dishes were delicious. I don't usually like pumpkin but the pumpkin bread was 🔥🔥. Actually asked for seconds on that it was so good.
Get there early, they line up at the door to get in! Food was amazing! Nice spot on the water to watch boats and sea-Doos pass by. Great menu, lots of drinks choices. This will be a yearly visit when we're in Florida. Service a tad slow, waitress not attentive. If not for that I would give Barbara Jean's 5 stars for everything else.
We found it on yelp with a good rating and it was even better. 5stars! Crab cakes the best….ever. Fried green tomatoes great. The bread pudding- personally I like more rum and no chocolate chips. But that’s my preference. lol. Very nice staff. Go early and beat the rush.
