Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had with a doctor. A couple of months ago, after moving to Florida, I saw Dr. Torres as a new patient. I have an autoimmune thyroid condition that I’ve had for over five years. Before asking about any history, she asked what my plan was, I explained that my hope was to eventually go into remission. She bluntly told me that I was not going to go into remission, that I was too young to be on medication long term, and that I needed to have my thyroid removed as soon as possible. Multiple of my endocrinologists have told me that the low dose of medication I’m currently on is not something to be concerned about long term. I understand doctors can have different opinions, but there is a way to communicate medical advice without making a patient feel dismissed or spoken down to. There was also a mix-up with the labs. I confirmed beforehand that I hadn’t fasted and was told the ordered labs didn’t require fasting, but fasting labs were drawn anyway. I also explained that I’d be moving again soon and didn’t need an endocrinology referral or follow up appointment, yet the referral was made and they had me schedule the follow up anyways. I had to cancel after my move. I left the appointment in tears which has never happened to me. The only good thing about the entire visit was the nurse, she was an angel.

Staff was amazing! They considered my acute health condition seriously and get me in to see the MD same day. Dr. Downey was wonderful in evaluation and treatment options for my condition. I could not have asked for speedier or better care. This is truly a patient oriented practice. Thank you!

Everyone at BPC is so nice, and they go out of their way tò bè helpful and pleasant. I want to also recognize thè people oñ thé phone lines (Talithà, et al) who take calls for thè doctors and nurses. They are great and always get the messages sent. And lastly but not least, Dŕ. McHugh, who is a wondèrfuĺ doctor and human being. I am reallÿ going to miss him when he leaves BPÇ at the end of January next year. I have already begun to pray that ì wilĺ find a replacement as good á person and doctor as he has been tò me for so many yeàŕs. Pamme Tutt
