Atlantic Recreational Center

I've been lap swimming here for a few years now. The staff is incredibly friendly and really laid back. They create an environment that is both fun and safe. The regulars are also awesome. But probably what's most important to visitors is the pool. It's open year-round the water is always kept at 83 to 85°. They chill it in the summer and warm it in the winter. My favorite time to go is on a frigid January or February day when it's in the 50,s or 60,s° and the water is steaming. I love swimming through that foot of fog hovering above the water. I also have kids. They enjoy coming too and bringing their neighborhood friends along with squirt guns and other assorted pool toys. We pile into the golf cart and play in the open swim area. And the secret that most out-of-towners don't know is that it's open to them too for a small fee and it may be cold and windy at the beach, but it's calm windless and warm at the Atlantic Rec pool.

If they are only going to let everyone in the shallow end because they fail every kid during the swim test then they should really consider opening the other half of the shallow area so that every single person there is not stuck in 1/4th of the pool. My son did the 2 laps like they said, but the still failed him because he didn’t understand how to swim like a professional swimmer does laps. Makes no sense, someone needs to demonstrate to these kids at the very least. Ridiculous.

I was there recently for a swim meet. The place is nice but could use a remodeling, new parking bigger swimming pool and update all around.

The daycare has gone so far downhill since the new management has taken over. I'm only giving 2 stars in best hopes that the rest of the facility is run better. Every single aspect of the way the children are treated and taken care of is worse than before. I really hope they stop backlashing against the parents that have been happy customers for years!
